Our countries maintain very good relations

Political cooperation between Russia and Turkey is successfully supplemented with large-scale trade, economic and energy projects. Our cultural contacts are centuries old. The Voice of Russia, one of the largest radio stations of the world, is an active participant in this process. A new studio for making programmes for The Voice of Russia has recently opened in Istanbul. The press-secretary of the Russian prime minister Dmitry Peskov has visited this studio. It has turned out that his interest in Turkey is not only professional.

Dmitry Peskov was in Istanbul on a private visit. Even people with almost round-the-clock jobs take time off sometimes. Turkey is the best place to spend a holiday, says the prime minister’s press-secretary. Incidentally, he gave this interview in Turkish which he speaks fluently:

“My love for Turkey and the Turkish language began long ago. After I graduated from the Institute of Asian and African Countries in Moscow I started working at the Foreign Ministry. I was almost immediately appointed to work at the Russian Embassy in Ankara where I worked for nine years. I miss that time and take every opportunity to come to Turkey on business and on holiday”.

Dmitry Peskov thinks that Russian-Turkish relations are at their best now. We have a lot of common interests. Hundreds of Turkish companies work in Russia and thousands of Turkish construction workers, engineers and businessmen live in this country.

Describing our bilateral relations Dmitry Peskov pointed out that the main aim is to maintain their positive character, first of all in energy projects:

“On the one hand, energy is a complicated issue because it is not only associated with economy but also with politics, geography and the interests of many countries. The more political background we add to our relations the more complicated they become. It would be much easier if we restricted our relations to trade.”

Nuclear projects make a considerable contribution to our partnership. The first NPP in Turkey will be built by Russian experts. Dmitry Peskov says that this trust is especially important after the tragedy at the Japanese Fukushima-1 NPP. On the other hand, this project has a strategic significance for Turkey:

“The level of our technology today allows achieving a higher safety level. The future belongs to nuclear power. There is no other alternative”.

The conversation with the Russian prime minister’s press-secretary took place in the new studio which makes programmes for The Voice of Russia. This radio station actively broadcasts in Turkey. Its audience is millions of residents of five largest cities of the country: Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and Antalya. Dmitry Peskov says that humanitarian relations between our countries will grow in the future and one of the oldest and most influential radio stations of the world will play its part in this.

Of course we do. Turkey is one of the major partner of Russia. I fail to see why so many Turks in the forum have extreme hatred for Russia.

maybe because of something like 8 wars with Russia and how they treated the Muslims of Russia?

maybe because of something like 8 wars with Russia and how they treated the Muslims of Russia?

How so?

In russian ottoman wars, it was the ottomans who were the aggressors at the beginning. They wanted to invade destroy Russia. Later they were taught a very big lesson. Just like Hitler, napoleon etc were. Turks should see this as their mistake, they could have maintained good relations with russian empire, but instead they dreamed of conquering us.

Muslims of Russia are free to practice their religion openly. Last year 500000 muslims prayed at Moscow streets for Eid.

Only fools wanted to attack Russia for its wealth, the Ottomans (or what was left of the Ottoman empire) tried to contain the imperial hegemony of the Russian orthodox church at that time and to defend Islamic enclaves within Russia. This is for History.

Today Russia is much different, much educated and much rational, which goes well with modern Turkey in particular and other modern nations in general.

I see. This is the trait I noticed in Turkish members here too. They seem to (irrationally) consider whole Central Asia, Xinxiang of China and siberians as their "own people". Maybe ottomans considered the same at that time. Russian Empire included Alaska and California once upon a time. We sold them to USA, do we consider Alaskans and Californians as our "own people"? I find this grossly irrational.

Yes, there was no reason to initiate hostilities with Russia. Ottomans were already facing the Crusaders charging from Europe. Foolishly, in the 1500s they initiated conflict with Russian Empire when Russia conquered Astrakhan khanate. Ottomans were very powerful at that time, still they lost. Eventually, this lead to a series of wars over the next 500 years, almost all of whom Ottomans lost, eventually they were destroyed, like all previous invaders of Russia.

Your comments are apparently anti islamic, maybe you have a vision of grandiosity in your mind about Russia defeating the Ottomans everytime, the Greeks say the same thing and your Christian orthodox complex of inferiority comes into light from your mouth, also that Russia first attacked the Ottomans is another proof of Islam fighting for its self defence and you are saying yourself that they were already under attack by the crusaders, so Russia than opened another front against the Ottomans, don't you think Russia was part of the crusades?
All Muslim enclaves belong to Islam, if they are treated right there is no problem, if not then it is an invitation to war where Islam has always won and still prevails; Bosnia, Chechnia.

Read history carefully. The very first conflicts were started by Ottomans when Russian Empire conquered Astrakhan Khanate.

I am a muslim myself. Ottomans were not fighting for self defence, surely. Rather they wanted to gain some land from Russia. Their decision was foolish since they had enemies charging from west. They had no reason to open another extra front. They foolishly invaded the powerful Russian Empire and got destroyed. Their decline started right from the first time they invaded Russian empire. Before that they won almost every war and expanded.

You are trying to prove something very hard that cannot be proved. As for Chechnya, how about I say the talibans in afghanistan and pakistan are pious muslims? We completely wiped out and destroyed Chechen lowlife terrorists in the 2nd Chechen war, who do not represent Islam at all, not any more than the Talibans and pakistan's ttp represents Islam. It is a shame and disgrace that people like you sympathize with them:tdown:

If you want to bring Islam into this, then you must know that almost every single Muslim empire aligned itself with "Rome". The Ottomans were the only one that decided to change this.

Surah Tul Rome. - In that Surah we are told that Rome was defeated, but in a few year time Rome will be victorious. Who is Rome? Rome is not in Italy, Rome is Russia.

Many of the Soviet countries were Rome. The main reason why the Americans have overtaken much of the world with their installed dictators/presidents - it's mainly because of who? Of Russia of course!

I don't know where this "Turks" hate Russia comes from, but I don't have any hate towards Russia. I don't hate any country either, I only have mistrust towards some.

Personally I think there should be some limits on private property sales. I am not fond of the idea of selling property to foreigner especially because no one in Turkey pays property tax. In Denmark you pay tax, you may own the building, but the earth/ground is still the country's.

So even if you sell a property you still pay tax for the soil. As it is now, a lot of foreigners buy houses in the best parts of the country and they nearly have their own town. e.g. Russians buying houses in Alanya etc. but in exchange Turks can buy in Russia... but who'd buy in a place like that ?

But that's just my opinion, I think I'd feel better about it if I knew that people paid property tax.

Maybe because of provocations from someone named as S_19? I' cant stand your bloody hatespeeches anymore!

We never ever had problems with anybody until you came.

hehehe I know what you mean, he is nothing like my Chinese friend i've known since grade school. It's like he is an "american" from the US. If you've met some americans you'll know that they have a special aura about them, repulsive.
