What's new

Turkey-Pakistan to build a train line

What about the train fare,it will be definatley cheaper then air fare. What is the train fare from Iran to Turkey & the time taken. Already buses coming from Iran to Pakistan r regularly attacked, security will be a very big issue

I dont know about train fare between Iran and Turkey but it is definitely cheaper than air, that is if you are not travelling on those stupid exclusive European trains on London to Tehran tour, with 12 thousand dollars per ticket.

Security is not an issue at Iran-Turkey border. It is an issue in Pakistan.

I would love If they also consider the Saudi Arabia as well...by this financing would get a lot easier and we will get a whole new dimensions of the project...

From Where you force KSA into this projecto_O KSA has no Land border with any country Pakistan, Iran or Turkey...stop scavenging:coffee:

It's probably through Iran.

Check this map

Going around would be far too expensive, and they'd have to avoid seas. They'd also need to get permission from multiple central Asian nations for that to happen, which would increase time and cost. As it is, Iran will be eager to allow this, as it is good for Iran. It's a win win situation for everyone.

The only thing I worry about is how international sanctions will affect this.

[Edit]: Changed comment, added better map.
[Edit 2]: It occurs to me, they could also go through Afghanistan. With relations improving, and the movement of people being a big problem between Afghanistan and Pakistan, this could improve the situation. This could also bring Afghanistan and Pakistan economically closer together. Though for this to happen, militancy in Afghanistan will have to be dealt with.

My bad I should have explained my POV

There is a possibility that we can enlarge the network of the rail ( at later stages) to add Iraq, Syria and other ME countries to the project and hence the KSA. It will boost the cooperation between these countries in real sense.

Theres already a train line between Turkey and Pakistan, is it necessary for another? If they want to enhance people to people relations then ease visa restrictions. As if people are really going to use this train to travel back and forth it would be better to fly.

12000$ per ticket from London to Tehran???????. This is too much, too expensive. While air fare (Qatar Airlines)from Bombay to London via Doha is INR 16500 (275$)

As part of Pak-China Economic Corridor Chinese will invest over $ 3 Billion and increase speed up to 160 km / h. I think by 'new' line they probably mean linking Gwadar. I'm guessing they want to utilize its potential even more by taking advantage of Iran border

Pakistan has bright future and is important future economy once we solve terrorism problem (Which is already near the solution) and Inshallah in coming years there will be no terrorism.

So we should believe PLMN announcements now? Someone remembers their load shedding promises? Give me a break, will you?

Well, if Turkey is ready to finance the project then it is good. Change the track size and donate two dozen new locomotives plus five hundred airconditioned wagons of standard gauge. The cost would come to about a billion dollars. Would they? :buba_phone:

You get what you wish for :enjoy:
