Turkey is no American Ally

. . .
I wish we were not...

Erdogan loves to lash out at people. If it's not Israel and the US it's Egypt or the EU or Armenia, even China. The man just has no concept of diplomacy. He wants to act the international strongman in order to improve his popularity at home.

He has no humane principles or anything, he is much like your Western leaders. Erdogan is a wannabe imperialist.

Bro, let's be honest. for that matter Putin (Russia in general), Assad and Iranian mullahs are not better either. Your lopsided hatred towards one side while your aparrent blind love for another side is not healthy either. Call a spade a spade, if you're fair and can leave your political/religious glasses aside.

And it's Hakan who gets the high grade here for giving a substantial response, moreover one that actually rebuts the author's argument with, "Turkey, U.S. to finalize Syrian rebel training this month: official| Reuters". "A+" grade on the curve, slight downgrade for providing more material than needed and another downgrade for confusing trade relations with an actual alliance. Final grade: B+.
The trade thingy was to show that the author is wrong in saying that turkey is distancing itself from the west. Also the other links below that prove my point.

Turkish Brigade embarked in Korea at 17 October 1950.

First combat action occured in 27 November 1950. Turkish soldiers performed extremely well against swarming Chinese forces and saved US troops from encirclement.

Battle of Wawon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

IIRC, there was a document or a statement which said that because of the heroic performance of the turks the usage of nukes weren't needed

Despite all the hardships of not knowing the location, difficulty of communication with other allied forces and green inexperienced troops, they made sure to take an equal number, if not more, of chinese with them.

Mate, there is a story from US sources.

After conducting recon missions Turkish soldiers always reported a high number of killed enemy soldiers. US hq found this unusual and didn't believed Turkish reports.

This action offended Turks and they began to dump bodies of the enemy soldiers in front of the US hq after the recon missions. :)

After some time,US officers said "We believe your reports, please stop dumping dead bodies."

Unofficial US foreign policy saying:

"America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests."

This is how Americans think. They think short term and when they are finished or can find a better ally they will dump their current ally and side with their new ally who offers them more benefits. The US and Turkey are not allies because they like each other. They have converging interests so they work together.

Turkey has to keep this in mind how Americans think. They don't see anybody as brotherly country (other than UK maybe). When they can find a better ally. They will switch to the other side. We can already see some American think-tanks saying things like Turkey is no good ally. In other words they are saying. Let's dump Turkey and forget all the things they have done for us and support their enemies. The only reason the US is not doing this is because currently US/Turkish interest converge. This doesn't mean that Turkish/US interests will always converge.

We have to keep this in mind and we have to hedge our bets. That is why Turkey will never fully choose for US policy. Why?

1. The US doesn't see Turkey as a permanent friend/ally

2. Turkey has to hedge their bets because she knows this. We must have good relations with Russia, Japan and other regional powers who have the same worries.
