Putin switched sides from kurds to erdogan and made a deal.Russia allows use of syrian airspace over afrin,and turkey tacitly supports/ignores assad offensive in idlib and ghouta.Kurds used as sacrificial pawn.Assad and putin offered kurds in afrin protection from turkey in exchange for overall central control from damascus,kurds refused.So putin makes a deal with erdogan.His calculation is once kurds see that can't stop turkish airforce and army by themselves,and usa alliance won't help them much they will be forced to seek protection from assad and putin,then damascus will regain control over kurdish held north without firing a single bullet usinh the turkish boogeyman to make the kurds submit. and break away from us alliance.USA wants to stop them from joining assad/putin,but also doesn't want to become enemy of turkey and is stuck between rock and hard place.

Important factor is USA posture.Afrin was isolated enclave with no US presence,but erdogan is declaring he will march on manbij which has a us base with special forces and erdogan wants them gone but usa refuses to listen.To attack manbij he will have to attack us troops potentially.Manbij is also connected to main kurdish land corrdior and close to kobane.Russian mercenaries already tried a probing attack on us base and 200 odd got wiped out by USAF airstrikes and artillery.

No a deal wasn't made, they agreed to talk about it.. but Trump fired the only sane guy left in the US administration, so who knows what will happen. If we march on Manbij, they can't do schit, if they do they risk all with Turkey. And when Turkey and Iraq cooperate to remove PKK in sinjar, US would have no land route access to Syria. I don't know man. Turkey is definitely watching its own interest understandable to secure its borders. But These So called Free Syrian army are absolutely disgusting. Watching Flag of a foreign country waving in your country and cheering foreign armies. Reminds me of Parcham and Khalaq Goons from Afghanistan cheering Soviets Murdering their own Leadership. There should have been only FSA Flag. Turkish Flag clearly shows the message of the Promised Land of Jihadis under Turkish Protection. This also explains the sudden infighting among Jihadis in Idlib and union of Pro Turkish Factions against other factions.
I wonder if Turkey can move against the US Protected Kurds North of Euphrates like this to rid the whole region from Kurdish Pseudo-Socialist Terrorism as well like they did against Afrin Kurds who were somewhat Friendly toward Damascus.

And this proposed Salafi lala land in Northern Syria from Idlib, North Allepo and Manbij will be a hellhole like modern day Afghanistan. And Turkey will be harmed the most. Salafi Extremisms is a plague that will seep into Turkey. Same thing that happened to Pakistan after Victory over Communists in Afghansitan with the help of Salfi Jihadis.
Turks better have a very good containment Plan. Jihadis will be 1000 Times worse then Kurds i tell you. Bashar will be gone in 2 years as he is ineligible to contest for elections again as per Syrian Constitution. But SAA and Damascus Government is not going anywhere.

Speaking about the success of Turkey's military operation in Syrian Kurdish-dominated Afrin, the country's deputy Prime Minister announced that Ankara had managed to reduce the significant threat on its border by capturing the city.

The Deputy PM has revealed Turkey's plans concerning the offensive, saying that the country's forces would not remain in Afrin, instead leaving the city to its "real owners."

Meanwhile, Anadolu Agency, a Turkish news agency reported that a bomb had been planted by Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) that killed at least 7 civilians and 4 Free Syrian Army (FSA) fighters in part of central Afrin which had earlier been cleared by Turkish military and FSA, citing a security source.

The bomb went off late Sunday in a four-story building in Afrin, killing at least 7 civilians and 4 FSA fighters, the agency specified.

The explosion took place amid Ankara's recent advance in the area: Turkish-backed forces managed to take over the town center on Sunday. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the Turkish army and FSA units entered Afrin and established full control over the settlement.

Ankara launched Operation Olive Branch on January 20 to neutralize YPG groups in Afrin. Turkey maintains that YPG is linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey. The Syrian government has condemned the operation as a breach of the country's sovereignty.

The offensive has been strongly condemned by Damascus, which decried Turkey's move as "a violation of the country's sovereignty."

Responding to these accusations, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that preservation of the territorial integrity of Syria is the common goal of Ankara and Damascus and that Turkish troops are not going to attack government forces in Syria.
