Turkey buys biggest aircraft carrier from Spain

Why do they scrap it in Turkey?
Is it because it's cheaper or?

A turkish company paid over 2,7 million euros to scrap the spanish aircraft carrier. There must be some money being made, because it's privately owned businesses doing this.

If there isn't any money being made, even a loss then it could be corruption.

We all know that "certain" politicians "family members" are involved in the shipping business. Maybe we are losing tax money so they can make money, I'm just guessing. Or it's the first option with a real business making money.

Someone said same thing about British AC that was bought to be scrapped.. Within a week of it arriving the front half was chopped off, so doubt any studies will be carried out..
Why would we need to study a obsolete technology anyways? Any information that we could take from a scap metal is public anyways, i doubt anyone would sell those if there was any critical information to be taken from them in the first place.

I guess other than the scrap metal there is a chance to thoroughly study it before/while taking it apart. Which isn't quite a bad idea :)
There's not a lot to learn from it. The Sea Control Ship design dates from the 1970s, it is very simple and elementary.

In Spanish service, Juan Carlos 1 supports: AV-8B Harrier II, Chinook, Sea King, NH-90
Aircraft composition:
Pure combat: 25 AV-8B/F-35B + 6 flight deck parking spots
Mix: 11 AV-8B + 12 NH90 + 6 flight deck parking spots
Pure transport: 25 NH90 + 6 flight deck parking spots

In May 2014, Minister for Defence David Johnston stated in media interviews that the government was considering acquiring F-35B fighters for the Canberra's, and Prime Minister Tony Abbott instructed 2015 Defence White Paper planners to consider the option of embarking F-35B squadrons aboard the two ships.[35][36] This assessment found that the cost of modifying the ships to operate jets would be very high, and the idea was rejected before the completion of the White Paper
