A militant detained for attacking the United States Embassy in Tunisia died Thursday when he suffered a heart attack after he conducted a two-month hunger strike to protest his innocence, his lawyer said. The militant, Bachir al-Gholi, died after being transferred to a Tunis hospital after his condition declined, said his lawyer, Abdel-Basset Ben Mberek. Mr. Gholi, 23, survived two heart attacks and succumbed to the third, his lawyer added. Angered by a film made in the United States that insulted the Prophet Muhammad, about 2,000 militants attacked the United States Embassy in Tunis in September and looted a nearby school. According to the Justice Ministry, more than 120 people have been arrested in the investigation of those events.
