Is it not alarming that an already violent group has allied itself with a group even more violent than itself? It is alarming in some way but the fact remains that earning the support of these violent groups means next to nothing: they have been rejected by a vast majority. People of the region have seen what relative peace can bring: a better life for a common person; their children can go to school and earn an education; they can make an honest living and bring prosperity to their homes and their neighborhood. Peace also brings gender equality. These are important things for all people, but especially for the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan who have been deprived of these common rights by violent terrorists for long. We have seen multiple Pakistani women in the last 20 months bring honors to their country by conquering some of the highest mountain peaks, winning an Oscar, winning an Emmy, earning the Asian Gold in women Cricket, and earning the Nobel Peace Prize!

It must be alarming for these terrorists to see their support dwindling. Additionally, they have been put on notice by the world community and are being targeted with very few places to run. We are all together in this war against the terrorists. It is not too far when we will see the terrorists being put out of their business of terrorism.

What needs to be done is quite evident. We need a lot more support than drones to counter this "new" type of brutality. We need to have US not make the same mistakes that it made in Iraq by leaving and in Syria by arming them.

I am happy at their alliance.

I think TTP should go and fight over in the middle east and help their Arab Brothers in ISIS.

Amazed at how many of you want to push your terror problem onto others, you think you will get rid of it if some TTP move to the ME ?

The ideology remains and is still being installed in new born children in those tribal poor areas, you can't get rid of it because of external affairs, AQ of the peninsula ( In Yemen ) has sworn alliance to ISIS as well, so you think they will disappear ? no way.

You guys did the same to us.

All these Arab foreign fighters came into Pakistan to fight the soviets, brain washing our tribals into this extremist Wahabbi Islam which caused thousands of deaths, untold billions of economic damage to Pakistan.

Of course I want them to go to the Middle East and go and die there.

TTP is on the run. That's why they are allying with all sorts of sociopaths. Those who remained in Pakistan, have been brutally taken out. The rest ran away to their daddy in Afghanistan, heck even the Haqqanis are now in Afghanistan. The ball is actually in US's court now, they better finish the job, not like the half baked democracy in Iraq, which is for everyone to see today.

'you guys' whilst there are many Arab states and they're on different sides, not all were against the Soviet union, some were allies of the Soviets, as far as I know Syria and Iraq were Soviet allies in the 80's, so Pakistani gov of that time is even more to blame then us since we didn't even take part in this.

Ofc it's great to have them move elsewhere, i'd like for ISIS to move to antartica and get rid of them but it won't happen, neither will AQAP of Yemen move elsewhere despite them pledging allegiance to ISIS, same with TTP they won't disappear from their mountains.

They were actually waiting for 'Mercenary's' order. Now you have given them a green signal, No one can stop them now.

i think most pakistanis blame Arabs for the post soviet mess rather than the soviet mess, its also reported in western media that even ISIS was funded initially by wealthy Arabs

I don't understand this whole TTP thing. Are the governors of the federally administrated tribal areas in Pakistan against or for the Taliban? Is there a possibility that this province wants to belong rather to Afghanistan?

@CENTCOM,

Sir,

The U S is not ready to fight this menace in Pakistan----. It was not ready to fight this menace in Iraq either. It actually has no clue what to do.

The seeds of descent have already been sown----and they have been sown deep while you were lollygagging---.

When are you guys going to learn that when dealing with any kind of insurgency---time is of essence. And when that insurgency has a RELIGIOUS factor behind it----you cannot be seen sitting on your seat bottom.

You know the only thing the U S has over its enemies---is the fear factor---and once you let that veil slip away---you have lost the high ground----.

It is shocking to see the u s military so easily losing the high ground against insurgents. It is your war---it is not Iraq's war----you changed the status quo----you broke the bowl---you knew the current Iraqi military hierarchy as incompetent----yet you made yourself into believing what they were not---and then you expected them to take a stand and fight---.

You cannot be coming from behind all the time to win victories---because it results in loss of life of too many innocent---and the dead bodies of the innocent are the cause for new recruits.

You need to have a new game plan sir---this old style of warfare is only good against enemies with known boundaries and armies in uniform.

Well you actually have a game plan----you already knew all this----why you do what you do & why don't you do what you don't need to do----that is the question to ponder upon.

@CENTCOM

Isis is a plague---just like ebola----you knew it was coming---you saw it coming----yet you were not prepared to confront it.

Look at it---do you see what CDC is doing and what the u s military is doing---. Just to give an example to the readers---this nurse who had been treating the ebola virus patient who died in texas---she called CDC that she is travelling by air and she has a light fever now---can she travel---the CDC says it is okay----now she has developed full fledged ebola infection----there were 150 people in that aircraft----that aircraft too 4 trips before it was grounded---so 600 people were in direct or close proximity of exposure---now the americans are going crazy----the higher ups are still covering their behinds----.

Congress is talking----it is all for show ad pomp----nobody is in charge---everyone blaming everyone else.

dear in my opinion US doesnt need to fight ISIS, no air campaign and definitely no boots on the ground
look around Syria and Iraq there are two major American allies there including one that is a NATO member. together they have hundreds of planes and well equipped and trained armies.

why not KSA and Turkey take the charge and bomb the ISIS themselves? and then there are the Peshmerga Kurds, their gains might be modest but they have put an impressive fight . why not just equip them?

.
Hi,

First of all----turkey should be kicked out of NATO---. They are a worthless ally----. Their presence serves no purpose. Turkey has been living large at nato's expense for a long time now and it has done nothing to deserve its position.

Irfan---the problem here is the time---the time is running against Islamic nations if isis is not wiped out clean. The Islamic nations in the immediate vicinity have major issues---Iraq, Syria, iran----.

The problem is what is going to happen when a shia armed force enters sunni area---or a sunni armed force enters shia area----.

I believe that the americans were intentionally slow to respond---the American public were supposedly tired of wars---and the govt wanted to get the support of the public by showing it, the brutality of this regime.
