Finally Better late than never, Its easier for these rats to run away.
Artillery is a good cheap answer for pounding these rats.
But a heavy strike package of thunders will send many messages one being no area in Afghanistan is safe for these scums anymore and at least have kept visible high activity of drones in the border area even if they don't cover the deep afghan area but at least at the border it will play as psychological warfare to keep away as you are being tracked.

As a rule one would use artillery over drones whenever you can use them. A drone is an aircraft that is expensive and complicated to get to target and launches tiny explosives at a target. Yes, it has its use-case but this is not it. Why not use artillery which is muuuuch cheaper, can deliver a LOT more firepower, QUICKLY?
