US Support ended after 1989 when the last soviet tank left afghan soil, who aided taliban to capture power in 1996? Pakistan had equal role in supporting mujahidden during soviet afghan war.

watch a documentary "inside the taliban" its the national geographic documentary.

you will understand that taliban got most of afghanistan WITHOUT resistance because it had people support at that time

yes you can do humanitarian works etc thats one thing; but exploiting them and trying to turn Afghanistan against Pakistan (i.e. sowing the grounds for a hostile anti-Pakistan agenda) would quite simply never be tolerated under any circumstance

Swat and other areas were over-run by the taleban and we drove them out and local economy there is picking up again

NATO invested hundreds of billions into Afghanistan and cant even stop bold attacks against them in broad daylight in Kabul

HOGWASH! they are a tribe. We wont commit mass murder just to please the NATO when it is not in our interests. They are not against the Pakistani state; though there are elements that are in bed with ''wrong people'' and we are taking action against them. We do it effectively but we dont need to make our war a media-diplomacy war. Pakistan Army has their own way and methods to fight COIN -- and with much fewer resources at their disposal.

ground intel has been good because the tribes for the most part are on our side......whereas NATO cant even trust their informants or even some ANA anymore since there are many turncoats against them.
