At least Trump is predictable in a nice way. His actions have a pattern. Once you deconstruct one of them and see the pattern, his other policies gets easier to understand.

Idea is to degrade Russian nuclear forces to large extent, and its chances of retaliation accordingly. American BMDS will take care of a significantly weakened Russian response afterwards, and US would win the war with acceptable losses.
