Ahead of the Thursday UN General Assembly vote denouncing U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, Trump threatened Wednesday to slash U.S. aid to nations that vote in the resolution's favor.

"They take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars, and then they vote against us," Trump said. "Well, we're watching those votes. Let them vote against us. We'll save a lot. We don't care."

The United States is "asked to pay for the privilege of being disrespected" at the UN, US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley told member states ahead of a vote on Jerusalem, that passed in the General Assembly.

All these votes, that is just that "vote". Nobody have balls to do anything substantial action against US embasy in jerusalem.

And neither is trump going to withdraw the aid money given to these countries coz that will alter the foreign policy of US. At best he might reduce it a bit.

So on the gorund nothing will change, US embassy in jerusalem is to stay, and this issue will gather dust as time passes by.

Trump should carry out what he promised now. At least announce no new aid packages, let the current ones die out with time. Immediately halting the current (commited) ones might be over-reaction....but even that I can understand.

The US foreign aid is very well monitored and has extensive rules and regulations as to how it is to be spent. So that's the usual Trumpet lie. Then there's the childish threatening by Nikki Haley which is so shameful and this is the reason why: the US has been the grand champion of diplomacy and aid across the board -- forget about military aid which is recycled through the US economy -- but especially with world hunger and poverty and development issues and it has always taken the diplomatic route in dealing with resistance or counter views to it's foreign policy. It's embodied the rule that countries should be sovereign and act on their sovereignty, even if it conflicts diplomatically with US policy. It champions the lead in democracy of all other nations and embodies that principle, and never lets what it does for others be used as some form of collateral to be used in return for loyalty. This is what it has come to with this despicable administration. It's taken what was the true sense of being American in front of the whole world and has bastardized it to no end. Truly shameful.
