Trump: Pakistan is a safe haven for terrorists

If you wish to feel better - do compare the GDP of Pakistan to even Nagaland. As if the whole of Pakistan doesn't have taxes, ports, industrial units etc.

And last I checked, it wasn't just one Telegraph article. But you feel free to bury your head in the sand.

My point is that the size of the Pakistani economy is not big enough to matter to American businesses that they would lobby against US Govt sanctions, if imposed.

But you always have China to lean on.
You think you loser indian can match China?!
How dare you insult our Pakistani brothers!
Fire on us you indian pig!!!

According to sources familiar with the matter, the revenues of PepsiCo Pakistan and its eight bottlers came to a combined Rs82 billion for the financial year ending June 30, 2012, up 19% compared to the previous year.

China defends Pakistan after Trump criticism

BEIJING: China defended its ally Pakistan on Tuesday after the US President Donald Trump said the United States could no longer be silent about Pakistan’s “safe havens” for militants and warned it had much to lose by continuing to “harbour terrorists”.

Trump on Monday committed the United States to an open-ended conflict in Afghanistan, signalling he would dispatch more troops to America’s longest war and vowing “a fight to win”.

Trump insisted that others – the Afghan government, Pakistan, India and NATO allies – step up their own commitment to resolving the 16-year conflict, but he saved his sharpest words for Pakistan.

Senior US officials warned security assistance for Pakistan could be reduced unless the nuclear-armed nation cooperated more in preventing militants from using safe havens on its soil.

Critics say Pakistan sees militants such as the Taliban as useful tools to limit the influence of old rival India. Pakistan denies allowing militants refuge on its territory, saying it takes action against all groups.

Asked about Trump’s speech, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said Pakistan was on the front line in the struggle against terrorism and had made “great sacrifices” and “important contributions” in the fight.

“We believe that the international community should fully recognise Pakistan’s anti-terrorism,” she told a daily news briefing.

“We are happy to see Pakistan and the United States carry out anti-terror cooperation on the basis of mutual respect, and work together for security and stability in the region and world.”

China and Pakistan consider each other “all-weather friends” and have close diplomatic, economic and security ties.

China has its own security concerns in the region, in particular any links between militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan and Islamist groups China blames for violence in its far western region of Xinjiang.

“We hope the relevant US policies can help promote the security, stability and development of Afghanistan and the region,” Hua said.

Bingo. In diplomatic terms this was "finger pointing" at US to the effect that "Don't get funny ideas". This ain't no I-ran.

A big thanks to our Chinese chums.

@Jlaw @Chinese-Dragon @Chinese Bamboo @Beast @Adam wang And all others from the peoples republic. Thank you our athiest friends. Proof that a good athiest is better then a bad Muslim. Who needs ummah when we have China?

everyone read this....policy statement from Pakistan people.

I(we) would rather like Pakistan to be called like what Trump has said and what our eastern neighbor keeps on telling 'Pakistan terrorizing India'...instead of being called a servile, docile, passive, nation with no balls...not worth the salt in the world.

When a few, or lot of countries are accusing Pakistan of doing this and that, and creating its own strategic asset, blaming ISI, blaming Pak Army, blaming the warrior nation, the fiercest Pathans and the tribal people for it...we all take it with pride and with more self esteem. Stones are thrown on fully laden fruit trees and not on barren trees...

Britishers use to call Indians servile and docile and Pathan tribes and FATA people, Afhanistan as 'graveyards of the empires' I think US miscalculated or misread the history, or didn't read it at all. Characteristics can never be changed, it remains.

As late Hameed Gul, the late ISI head has said...'you cannot buy an Afghan fighter(Pashtuns), you can simply do a small time transaction or lease some of them for some time'...

Also it is a fact that Islam is supreme uniting and fighting factor for the Talibans...Afghanistan or nationalism comes later and secondary....another miscalculation by the Yankees....

Let me explain it to you how it is.. debt are of two kinds public debt and sovereign debt. Public debt is problem but not very big one, as it can be overcome by the govt by printing new notes or issuing shares, bond , debentures etc. The main culprits are the sovereign bond, as they need to payed to the external people from whom you have borrowed like imf, world bank or loans you raise from international financial markets.
Why they are bad? Because you have pay them in hard currency like $,€,£,¥ etc or in gold and if you will be unable to pay they will take over the holding in the company or your institution etc. Thus you will end up selling your own country to the foreigners. And they will start bending the rules as they wish as economy gives way for politics.
Pakistan have huge sovereign debt crisis looming around.

Now lets see the second aspect of your pizza which says india has 0.9 k $ debt per capita compared to pakistan 0.8k $ per capita. India per capita income is around 1600 -1800$ nominal and 6000$ ppp approx. which compared to pakistan 1400-1600$ nominal and 5000$ ppp approx. So none of the country fare very well in the comparison but indian have better chances of paying up their loans moreover as most of indian loans are public debt it can be payed by govt internally but pakistan has external debt which makes the situation trickier.

Pakistan is pre industrialisation/economic revival the prospects for growth are enormous Pakistan's debt is nothing compared to the prospects if growth in all departments Pakistan has

RE: Trump
