Just when India was on the verge of integrating and assimilating the tribal majority into the mainstream, here comes the prospect of war with Pakistan. Majority of Indian populace consists of backward tribals who have been historically segregated and alienated from the entity of India and the erstwhile states and provinces. The assimilation process requires stability and economic growth for long period of time. I have a feeling the next war with Pakistan would be unlike the earlier ones. Hitherto all post-1947 wars and insurgencies were low cost affairs and didn’t affect civilian lives because Pakistan hadn’t really applied itself.

This time it looks to be different. If at all India wins, it would probably be a Pyrrhic victory. In any case war can disrupt the tribal integration. Indian public has short memory. After the war, it would be forgotten how tribals created the Naxal menace and the segregation would continue. This pattern has surely happened before. It explains why after so many millennia, tribals live in a parallel world of their own.

You do have a point ...a valid one ...this time tribes may not even survive let alone integrate with the rest of the India ...war would be horrible ...for either side ...!

Moral:You cannot afford to have a war with pakistan.

One idea for integration and assimilation process: Replacing the existing system of ST reservation by a system in which a job is reserved for those Non-Tribals who have a child by marrying a tribal.

Yes, tribals in orissa,andhra,bihar...etc will become independent:cry:. What a lousy assumption:crazy:.

Most of the tribals are fighting to save looting of resources from corporates and govt. They want control of the resources for their own benefit. Even naxals/maoists are fighting to overthrow existing capitalist system not to carve independent state.

Even during kargil war the so called separatists could not do anything. There is nothing much tribals will do affect indian nation-state (other than few rogue ones in northeast). Better governance and equitable distribution of resources will go a long way in integrating tribals or that matter of fact any other section of society. Removing crony capitalism and corruption is need of hour.

War with a economically failed and lawless state like pakistan will give us nothing but only deplete our financial resources. The question india needs to ask is what is it going to gain by going to war with pakistan?

Electricity light in the hut could cover ur body when u need clothes and fill ur stomach when hungry.

Here lies the difference between a Glass half full & half empty.

Those in Karachi who died of heat stroke for want of electricity had covered bodies and full stomachs - yet they died of what ??

Is it a year long misery what heat stroke patients went through? Were they unclothed and unfed year long?
