the reason we went there in the first place was to save the Turkish Cypriots from ethnic cleansing.

there was a coup in Cyprus that was supported by the greek junta (military generals who was leading the country) and there has been several proofs that those in power used words like "clean this island for Turks" why do you think the Turks in Cyprus cheared when they saw us? because we where there to help them, i really wonder where you read this BS that Turks are ethnically cleaning Greeks. some more propaganda from armenian owned sites maybe... ?

Numerous sources testify that Turkey carried out ethnic cleansing of Greek Cypriots, because "might is right". We should not be blinded just because Turkey is a Muslim country. It is very similar to what Israel did. They prevent Greek Cypriots from returning to their homes.

Sure, do so. However, it is a fact that they displaced more than 1/3 of Greek population from Northern Cyprus and never allowed them to return. What more, they bought Turks from the mainland to settle in northern occupied cyprus' displaced Greek's properties. It is very similar to what Israel did in Palestine - force Palestinians out of their homes and never allow them to return. Then allow jews to occupy their property.

Personally, I feel it is a very big shame that a Muslim country (who is also great Ottoman empire's successor) would do such kind of thing.

But a nephew of Asil Nadir a UK Turk Cypriot biz was a friend of mine and we discussed it I remember being told that Turk Cypriots had been at the receiving end but when Turkey army went in they did take some of the economically more viable part of the Island from the Greeks.

Sure, that is what I suspected too at first. But when I researched I found, yes, Turkey had "excuse" to go for war. But it certainly did not warrant the actions of Turkey later on. Their action was very similar to Israel's in that.

I consider Turkish occupation of Cyprus as obnoxious, from the humanitarian perspective. They carried out ethnic cleansing of Greek Cypriots. Shameful to see a Muslim country commit such acts just because they have the power to do so.

My dear you have the right to have your opinion, indeed. You asked why their response are over sensitive, and I try to help you in order to find the reason. In my way of thinking calling other nations in such an aggressive manner is not mature. I am sure it is possible to re-state that question in a way, not making others over-sensitive.

To be honest no one is able to solve the "Cyprus" issue just by considering the one side benefits. As I know Turkey is supporting the political meeting between southern & northern parts, regarding the reunion of Cyprus. I wish both sides live in peace for ever.

In another thread,you had accused wikipedia of being biased in the sense that they want to help western goals. Now you have given a wikipedia link just because you thought that it is going to serve your argument.

Some Turks indeed are over-sensitive but it is better than being over-hypocrite.Russia supports the other side in this conflict and thats the sole reason why you support Greek Cypriots.Spare us the "shame for a muslim country" and "similar to Israel" agitation. Im 100% percent sure that you dont give a damn about Palestinians as well.

You should research more on what Turkey actually did after they occupied the islands.You should also know what "ethnic cleansing" means.

If you displace the native population after occupying it, you are engaging in ethnic cleansing. Something which israel did, something which Turkey did. Turkey occupied a disproportionate part of the island, and participated in a large-scale ethnic cleansing by displacing Greek cypriots. Whatmore, they bought people from Turkish mainland for occupying the properties of Greekcypriots who were displaced, which is a war crime by international standards.

The whole of cyprus should be a sovereign country, controlled by the Cypriot people themselves.

Did Greek occupy southern cyprus? No, right? Turkey should understand what is acceptable in the 21st century and what is not. Whatmore they are even thinking of annexing the illegally occupied northern cyprus. Again, a step which would be akin to Israel's annexation of Palestinian territories. And they cry about China's legitimate action against Uighur terrorists.

If you read my post carefully, you would know that I stated "with many sources". Right, go check that wikipedia page, the part which discusses Turkish army's in-humanitarian actions are supported by a very large no. of sources and historians.

Did Greek occupy southern Cyprus? my answer is Yes. It is crystal clear to me that the Greek military junta had an unacceptable Greek source. the Greek military junta was not the re-presenter of all the people living in that region. They were extreme nationalists. Considering the 11 years of intercommunal violence between Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots it was going to be some serious war crime if someone did not stop them.

I read somewhere the population growth rate in Turkish part of island is well under the population growth rate of turkey in the same period. So those claims about ethnic cleansing sound suspicious for me.

I am completely agreed with "The whole of cyprus should be a country, controlled by the Cypriot people themselves." and this is not achievable but by providing rights for both sides.

All these are my personal opinion and I hope to not harm any one.
