By: Farzana Shah | Published: December 03, 2010

PESHAWAR - The provincial Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has given a green signal for holding of trials against arrested commanders and other operatives of banned Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM) and Taliban.

The trial against TNSM leaders and Taliban commanders arrested from different parts of the province will be started from next month (January) in 37 cases filed against them.
Sources in the law department told TheNation that challan for holding trial against arrested militants/extremists according to the First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against them in local police stations of Malakand, Swat, Buner, Shangla and other districts has been completed. According to the challan note, trial against chief of banned Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat Muhammadi (TNSM), Sufi Muhammad will be held in total five cases whereas his sons will be tried in three cases each and the commander of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Muslim Khan will be put to trial in five cases while trial in four cases will also be held against other arrested Taliban leaders.
The trial will be held in anti-terrorism court in Swat and Darul Qaza Swat for which formal inauguration of Darul Qaza Swat (anti-terrorism court) will be done by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtun-khwa on December 30th.
These leaders of TNSM, TTP and other Taliban leaders have been booked under charges of terrorism including killing of police officials, kidnapping, damaging government property and other such terror acts. The cases against them have been registered under all Anti-Terrorism Acts.
It is pertinent to mention here that after a hide and seek, the chief of TNSM Sufi Muhammad and his sons were arrested from Peshawar last year and so far there had been many rumours of deals between TNSM chief and the Government.
