Transparency in the ratings review system

Hi all,

I would like to address an issue, that I came across recently in PDF. I've been active on the board for about 8 years, in which I've learned many things thanks to the senior members, title holders, even the newbies. Suffice to say, if one is open enough to discuss issues constructively, we walk away knowing more than what we walked in with.

Such is the PDF as I remember it, where trolls were actively hunted and banned and rules were enforced so that the forum remains a place where such conversations are possible. So this leads me to why I'm writing this little rant.

Yesterday, I visited the member's club and we all know how it is where rules are a little less strict etc. In a specific thread opened by the member @Divergent , there was an exchange between the member @Divergent and @Ocean, both of them cursed at each other and since according to the rules of the forum, getting personal, especially cursing at each other is strictly forbidden. Hence I gave 3 negative ratings to the posts in which these individuals were cursing at each other.

I visit today to see, the negative rating of @Divergent being reversed, while the negative ratings of the member @Ocean remain, while the thread deleted. So here are just a few suggestions I have for the moderators/members that have a little more sway in what goes on.

-For the situation aforementioned,Please either reverse the 2 negative ratings of the member @Ocean as well, or restore the negative rating of @Divergent , since rules should be enforced equally on every member instead of cherry picking the rules for certain members only.

-Secondly, here is a suggestion, some transparency should be brought in terms of the rating review system we have. If the rating of a member which was given because of the violation of the rules is reversed without even consulting the title holder who gave the rating, why give the authority to rate posts to title holders at all?

Lolzz frankly i got no issue with any negative ratings specially when i have seen some members like Rescueranger n indian members abusing both positive and negative ratings. Also i think that thread is deleted.

As of divergent well she has a habit of making poor researched threads which contain generalizations againt pakistanis or a section of pak community , like few days back she was alleging that all grooming gangs in uk are operated by mirpuris. When her absurd posts are countered she refuses to accept the facts and repeat debunked gibberish plus spew more insults. Also offlately she has been going in many threads throwing flamebait posts for no apparent reason on pakistan.
When given deserving responses we witness use of gender card, victim playing before mods that cultural differences are causing issues , and oh how can one forget accusations " so and so poster stalks me " , like eww, ab kya yehi reh gaya hai hamray karnay kay leeay?

I dont jump to curse others for one or two stupid comments but matter here is that if some indian or pakistani guy was engaging in such continuous trolling behavior either he would have been banned or posters would have been allowed to take on him, but in this particular scenario things have been going on unabated. I would appreciate if things are viewed free of gender lens.

But having said that , i would repeat ratings dont matter or even infractions. Its random online stuff. I have learnt tonnes from some posters here and thats the experience that goes with you outisde of an online space not the ratings, bans and infractions.

If my negative rating was reversed my thread was also removed. Seems fair. Don’t regret saying those terms despite being inappropriate, no one pulls out the ‘gender card’ - debating points isn’t objected, but if you’re going to attack someone’s character, integrity and portray them in a demeaning way when they’ve not engaged in that manner first whatsoever - then that’s obnoxiously shallow and be prepared for heat otherwise step out off the kitchen.

Not here to prove patriotism, intentions or points - nor responsible for other people’s understanding.

Ratings can be reversed by mods. If you want rating reversed you just have to open in GHQ and it is up to mods discretion.

but surely this is favouritism, if two people are "fighting" both should be penalised/punished, not just punish one. that's unfair.

Cursing against female member never tolerated even that was done in retaliation.
I my self land in a long ban despite earning 66 + ratting and lot of positive work.

Rules should be applied equally on both members irrespective of gender.

I hope you people look into this matter since a female member from U.K identify herself British but never let a single chance to poke into typical Pakistani domestic issues and ridicule our Pakistani and Muslim values...

I already know how the system works, what I am suggesting is that the system be tweaked a little for the betterment of the forum.

-If two members are down right verbally abusing each other for whatever reason both of them deserve some consequences, be it infractions, or small time bans or negative ratings. The report button exists for a reason instead of engaging in exchange of cursing. As @Blue Marlin stated, it would be favoritism if the consequences were for just one member and not the other, who did the exact same thing.

-Secondly with all due respect, my question was why are title holders given the power to rate posts if any moderator can just swoop in and without giving any reason reverse the rating, no matter how slam dunk it was? Can any mod on this forum justify reversing the negative rating of a post, the content of which is cursing out another member? And while we're on the subject, why are title holders that hand out the ratings not part of the loop in the decision making of whether a rating should be reversed or not? After all, being that they were the ones handing out the rating, their POV should atleast be considered.

-Lastly, as far as 'your thread' goes miss @Divergent , With all due respect, I've seen many of your threads and been part of the discussion of many of them. They are either copy pasted reports that you want to discuss, or a mere single solitary paragraph of 'heeyy everyone, this is my opinion what's yours' ...

Let's stop pretending that your threads involve an entire research process for which you have to struggle for a week or two before you get ready to post them, and by the same token, closing of the discussion/ removing such threads is no consequence what so ever. Similarly, I've seen you specifically take names of members who you try to dictate shouldn't be part of the discussion. This is an open forum and any one with an account can comment unless they are breaking the rules, and it's quite a shame to see a double standard in the application of rules where certain members have a free pass to break the rules.

First of all, you have a very broken sense of fairness. Secondly, you are basically a waste of space on the forum, creating threads of no value, and no relation to defence. You even troll on defence related threads by posting unnecessary, unwarranted, and useless comments.

It is advised that firstly, visit GHQ, post a thread w.r.t. such issues along with thread link so that can be resolved. Secondly, there is no need for online scuffle here in this thread by blaming each other for nothing. We do have an option of reporting in-case of any violation observed so the Mod(s) will take care of the same.

Closing thread is it has served the purpose and moving nowhere.
