Imagine Pakistan becomes a developed country. Clean streets, sanitation and electricity to all. Good hospitals and schooling. Low crime rates and laws which are enforced fairly. Welfare system for the poor and needy which includes basic healthcare and housing. Literacy rate is above 95% for men and women.

How would the economy of such a Pakistan look like?

How much would it cost to maintain annually?

With your current population this would require upwards of a ~$5-$6T economy with a Governmental revenue of ~$1-2T

When Pakistan becomes a developed Nation, its expenses would be half of its Revenues and it will become a creditor Nation Investing in projects both at home and abroad. Hopefully, it will also become a Donor Nation helping Humanitarian projects Worldwide.

Naya Pakistan:

+ Population is 50% less then what it is now around 80 Million People can be done by 1 Child policy.
(One Generation Implemetation to half the population)

+ Taxation would be mandatory so Government has surplus income every year they would have 2-3 Billion
Surplus income
goes into saving account

+ We would have Damns constructed to save water and make electricity 5-10 Billion income extra money(Water problem solved, and with less people less electricity used)

+ Farming would produce 6 Times the amount that is made now with our capacity and with water saved we can
grow more land make it cultivable.

+ Education would be standardized 96% educated and due to Merit hiring people will get jobs right after they
graduate

+ Complete cars would be made in Pakistan and their prices would be lower then imported cars
revenue would be saved on these vehicles

Our Industries would make 5-10 Billions in revenues , out of which they would pay Pakistani Government good amount of Taxes

Low population = Less competition for Government Jobs and so more talent will stay in Pakistan and also less radicalization

Our potential is 500 Billion/ year , and our expenses should be around 90 Billion to run the country , we should be saving $250 Billion per year, 180 billion would get invested into infrastructure or we would but assets overseas like power or telecom projects

It can be done

If our Top 20 Corporations earn 4 Billion / Year Profit = 80 Billion dollars
If we save water with Kala Bagh dam or other means = 10 Billion dollars / Year in saving
Our Remittance from Overseas = $20 Billion Dollars
Taxation = 180 Million people paid tax , $500 USD / year = $90 Billion Dollars
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
$200 Billion

Add to that our exporting of Food/Products = 100 Billion
Export of Coal Reserves = 40 Billion /Year
Export of Precious Gems = 40 Billion / year

We are looking roughly at figure of $380 Billion Dollars , with very conservative views of potential of our corporation and our capacity to export goods

SOLUTION IS LOWER POPULATION - HIGHER PRODUCTIVITY
Making Electricity , issue GONE
Making water issue , Gone
Taxation Fixing , Permanent Solution

Current Status:
Pakistan's estimated nominal GDP as of 2011 is US$202 billion
with all the "ISSUES we are having imagine what we can do with social issues resolved

At least a trillion

From Sources

Pakistan Railways, under the Ministry of Railways, operates the railroad system. Rail was the primary means of transport till 1970. In the two decades from around 1990, there was a marked shift in traffic from rail to highways. Now the railway's share of inland traffic is only 10% for passengers and 4% for freight traffic. The total rail track decreased from 8,775 km in 1990–91 to 7,791 km in 2011. Pakistan expects to use the rail service to boost foreign trade with China, Iran and Turkey.

Imagine how much prices would drop of all goods used railways , and people travelled on railways again, instead of foreign planes

Mate, Pakistan's GDP is not expected to cross the $1TN mark until 2040 at the earliest so to reach $5-6TN we are talking 2060++.

This can't be right.

Well they are just a little bit greater than half of the US's population, I pretty much halved the values of the US economy.

cant be done without help from india, unless pakistan is willing to continue to beg from gcc, US and china as in the past 65 years

any source for that mate??

It would require a GDP at current prices of US 5 trillion plus. Government spending would be at least 1.5 US trillion a year.

No offence but I see no likelihood of this happening with the leadership that Pakistan has now is likely to attain in the near future. It requires a strong leader who is willing to sacrifice all for the betterment of Pakistan.

The United States is the biggest economy in the world with a Per Capita of almost $50,000 in 2012.

So, if Pakistan was developed as Riyast-e-Mutahida, then $50,000 for the 183 million Pakistani population would come to $9.15 trillion.

183,000,000.00 x $50,000 = $9,150,000,000,000.00

That is some 60-70+ years away- most of us will be dead if this ever happens.

If Pakistan has Consistent 7% GDP growth rate .. then we will Cross $1Tr in next 11 years

and with 5% Growth we will reach that mark in next 15 years

Not necessarily. As science and technology is growing at a breath taking speed, I think the vast majority of the world will be fully developed before the 22nd century. In Bar-e-Saghir, this region could develope much earlier than other parts of the under developed regions because of the huge man power and the abundance of natural resources available.

Take for example, the modern day telecommunications sector. With the same inept Governments in power in India and Pakistan, hindreds of millions of people now have mobile phones and the Internet. The Governments are still pathetic as they were 60 years ago, but entrepreneurs, private sector have taken over. And, taken over to the extent that the Governments cannot keep up the pace.

In Pakistan, there was only around 19 Gigawatts of installed electricity and 5 years later it has grown to more than 23 Gigawatts. But there's still and always massive load shedding regardless how much the Government increases the installed capacity. This is due to people getting hold of technology which the Government is not directly providing but people are acquiring it from other means.

Similarly, development will occur and is occurring without the help of the Governmrnts around the world. If anything, most Governments are incompetent rather than helpfull in this effort.
