ISLAMABAD: Policemen engaged in the
investigation of the mysterious murder
of Haji Abdur Razzaq Memon, a top
industrialist from Karachi, have disclosed
that he was killed due to business
enmity and over litigation.
Memon was gunned down in a room of a
guesthouse in Sector G-6/4, Islamabad, on
Wednesday night by an unidentified
assailant, police said. They added that the
gunman targeted him from rear side of the
room. The victim sustained three bullets in
his chest and died on the spot.
The investigators said that Memon, 50, a
resident of Clifton, Karachi, got a room in
Sun Guesthouse (House no. 25, Street 67,
Sector G-6/4), on November 21, to resolve
some issues in Islamabad.
They added that Tahir Ashraf, the servant of
a federal minister, arranged for his stay in
Islamabad. The police said that Razzaq
Memon was running his industries in Karachi
but due to some security problems, he
shifted his business to Dubai but a Karachi-
based group deprived him of huge assets
worth Rs400 million fraudulently.
Memon came back to Pakistan and got the
gang members arrested with the help of
Interpol through a deal with the federal
minister. The suspects were shifted to
Pakistan a couple of days back.
The people investigating the case believe
that the arrested people were involved in
the murder of the billionaire, as the police
have got some concrete evidence indicating
the involvement of the Dubai-based
fraudulent party.
