Well not really Rajputs & Gujjars....there were quite a few others & I wouldn't know how one could differentiate people on caste or biradari lines because I haven't any evidence to that effect !

So far as the Punjabi Butts are concerned - Of course not....the Butt who came to Punjab are ethnic Kashmiris of Punjab !

The Butt who stayed behind, as the vast majority did, surely participated in these things one way or the other - Quite a few members of my extended family were cut-down on their way from Jammu to Punjab naturally others must've reacted to these developments !

Punjabi isn't my Mother tongue....Urdu is !

Whatever Punjab I speak....I picked it up from my friends or colleagues or from my Mom's side of the family; Dad's side is fluent in Punjabi but they speak Urdu amongst themselves so I never really got an opportunity to pick it from there !

My bro, riots in punjab were over by september end whereas the exodus of muslims from jammu did not start until mid to late sept. Most of the muslims living in poonch and rajouri are rajputs and gujjar even today, i highly doubt that the demographics were any different back then.

What difference would the riots in Punjab being over before or after the atrocities in Jammu & other parts of Kashmir, make ?

The people I was talking about weren't killed in Punjab....they were massacred in Jammu by enraged Hindu Mobs & the Dogra's Men - Those that managed to come to Punjab (Pakistani Punjab) were barely a handeful of the whole families !

Oh kaki the kashmiris living in central punjab are a different species of kashmiris, our history is based in central punjab only and particularly in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat, not in AJK or Kashmir valley. Those living in AJK and Kashmir valley currently are different than us and are themselves answerable for their history, I am not answerable to their history. The same way the punjabi pathans history is judged within punjab and not in afghansitan.
