I heard that a version of it called Kaptaan Chappal is now in fashion in high societies of UK, France..it is similar to IK's chappal.

Did not know this. So Rooh Afza is actually more Indian then Pakistan as the origins can be traced to India ~ that is where the concoction was forumalated.

The core is rosewater though which is hardly "Indian". Qarshi Industries have their "Jam-e-Shirin" which i personally prefer. Rosewater can be traced back to the Romans, ancient Greeks and the Middle East. My Arab in laws drink a similar drink called jallab. Doesnt taste exactly the same as roh afza but the core is the same. Similarly rosewater is used in Lokum (Turkish Delight). Its more of a regional thing. But yes Hamdard Industries have their roots in Delhi.

Doesnt mean it was created there.

Top 10 Pakistani brands with global footprints

Markhor (Footwear)

Shoes, crafted from leather by hand, are being produced by Markhor in Okara and picked up all around the world since 2010. The brand is named after an endangered breed of wild goat Markhor that is natively found in northern and central mountainous regions of Pakistan and Central Asia. This remarkable export activity is the result of the hard work of two young entrepreneurs, Sidra Qasim and Waqas Ali. Over eight long years, they have successfully identified indigenous shoe-making talent, built its capacity to an international standard and found a market for its products beyond Pakistan.

Food & Beverages
Shan Foods (Africa, Australia, Us, Europe, Middle East)

Apart from the above, Chen One, Al-Karam and Amir Adnan are some of the other clothing brands that are available globally.

Banking Industry
Habib Bank Limited
The largest banking network in Pakistan, boasting over 1,500 branches locally, HBL Pakistan stepped into Sri Lanka in 1951. Today, HBL successfully operates in 29 countries including the USA, France, Belgium and Australia.

National Bank of Pakistan
NBP have presence in 21 countries. From East to West, their network starts from Japan, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, to Bahrain and KSA in the Middle East, to Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in Central Asia, to France and Germany in Europe and USA and Canada and our close neighbors Afghanistan and Bangladesh. They cover the globe when it comes to the having branches or representative offices.

Just because they have few outlets outside Pakistan does not make them global. What is the level of their foot print, with annual sales and after tax profits. How much are the brands popularity.

I know of Shan, as they are not only used by Pakistani Diaspora but by South Asians across the board.

Habib bank's, operations in US is closed on allegation of money laundering, FED imposed a penalty of USD 225 millions, please be corrected.

Packed spices from Pakistan are global but they cater to the need of Pakistani diaspora mainly.
Same is true for the Restaurants.

We haven't been able to develop a genuinely global brand..

Hamaray kaam he aisey hein to kya karey duniya bhi.

Yeh chacha Pakistan bi pooch gaya ??View attachment 557088

Rooh Afza is great, no doubt, esp in Ramadan, but it is not even the best Sharbat.

That will go to Jam e Shirin, which by the way, people throughout the regions to our West and North are absolutely crazy for.

Then you have other varieties like those made of Mango, Kinnoo, Limoon, Sandal, etc.

Drinking of Sharbat is an ancient part of the culture of Iran, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Pakistan.

It was an important part of Persian Culture.

The same for halva, which finds influence as far away today as Eastern Europe, Jewish Diaspora, and derivative dishes from the Arabic world made of tahini and other bases.

Boiling hot green tea, which we call sabz chai and peshawari kava, is loved so much by our part of the world that it has led to elevated incidence of esophageal cancer, like in Iran.

Ottoman, Safavi, and Mughals were heavy on these things.

. .
.
Wasn't HBL sued over the Daniel Pearl murder? I believe they pulled out of the US market after they got fined $630 million for not complying with US regulations.

NBP lost a lot of money due to corruption at its Bangladesh branch and also due to embezzlement of funds from the youth loan scheme in Pakistan. They are also vulnerable to any move by the government to consolidate all funds with the central bank.
