What is holding back the Purchase of our first Destroyer Ship for Navy?

Finances. We don't have the money to buy big destroyers, nor does it make much sense for us. The difference between a destroyer and a frigate is the size and hence the number of weapons it can carry.

We aren't planning on imposing ourselves on the enemy, rather we plan to defend our waters, hence the focus on the subs.

I expect KSA to have at least two destroyers, one on each side, If they are trained enough to master them, or under United Muslim Force. May be not full-fledged but at least like one that Iran has.

Its not just the economic power but the intent ... navy is needed to secure your sea lines of communication and to attack others ... Pakistan's purpose is just to defend its sea lanes ... therefore we require a medium size navy ... with all the projects under process Pakistan will attain decent size .. we are procuring tyoe 54s, 4 milgem, 8 subs and many other smaller boats ... so i guess that will be a huge boast to our navy

pak always had a weak navy. it is most neglected of all the services. generally those candidates who fail to get admission even in army are selected for navy. navy comes third in the ISSB merit list. with poor equipment in the hands of low IQ people it cant progress well. there are rumors that most of the navy personnel are involved in side businesses other then their job in navy so such people generally are more interested in getting rich rather than betterment of their service. due to the current economic condition of the country it is almost impossible for the govt to do any significant addition in the arsenal of navy and PAF. trust me pak forces today are relying only on nukes today to counter india otherwise in conventional warfare we are no match to india and other then PAF the results of past wars are not satisfactory at all rather we faced humiliating defeat at many places.
i think today we have more serious issues like water shortage, poverty, corruption so pak should focus on these areas rather then buying weapons for the armed forces at least for the next five years. india is not at all going to start any conventional war. they are not fools. so keep nukes for india and spend budget on development of the country rather then buying useless equipment.

We we can't deny the improvements made to raise status for Navy at Asian Level , with in Asia we have a minor improvements

Things have slowed down a bit as our Azmat Ship Production rate , however by 2022 things will improve to some extent

Let me correct you kid. Indonesia defence budget is not more than Pakistan defence budget. Secondly Pakistan Armed Forces are way powerful than Indonesian.

Thirdly, In the next decade Pakistan navy will outmatch Indonesian navy easily.

Our shopping list for next decade is listed below:-

1. 8 Chinese Submarines
2. Surplus Submarines to replace 2 Agosta 70 submarines
3. 4-6 4000 tonne frigates
4. Ada Class Corvettes
5. 2 Swiftship corvettes + 2 later
6. 2 Patrol boats
7. 6 FACs


Its gonna take our navy to next level:-

11 Frigates
8 Corvettes
16-18 Submarines
20 FACs
8-10 Patrol Boats
3 Mine Warfare

and our own missiles like babur cruise missile, zarb anti ship missile, herba missile.

Easily like what? In the next decade we will put much effort for Navy and Air forces though

We are keep building at our own pace though, the recent defense acquisition plan dictate us to procure capabilities to match our neighbor firepower when they are combined , in Naval and Air power (in which Singapore and Australia comes in mind).

So far Our Navy Acquisition board had issued RFp for at least 4 units Frigate design based on itver Huitveld class and De Zeven Provincien class, made contract for further three CBG class submarine, made request of purchase for three U214 Reis class submarine from Turkey, had issued contract for supplier parts to build three 85 meter class OPV locally, keep building Cn 235 MPA and so on
