nice thread... but our defence modernization process a bit very slow.... first IA do have large number soldiers but armed with ages weapons... MoD should concentrating more on it... MMRCA for air force.... vikky in navy..... fed up with delays.... both MMRCA and VIKKY will give lethal punch to Air force and NAVY..... MMRCA announced when i joined in B.tech.... it's been decade that i taken admission in engineer bachelor... the deal yet to be signed..... that is so much f.ked up...

1. Lethal weapons to IA like artillery etc
2. Sub's and more ships to form CBG for Vikky and IAC1... like destroyers, subs....
3. MMRCA deals.... this things should be inducted as soon as possible without delays....

i'm sure this year will br fruitful to all the three.viki is already scheduled for sea trials.mmrca is in negotiation and atleast tenders will be called as far as army is concerned

All of the above have been discussed to death and have their own issues but all of the above is now being addressed, things are going well for all!

you don't understand my point friend... i fed up with MMRCA deal more than any thing... it's been a decade... ..

The Government has assessed the requirement of Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) that would be required for defence preparedness.The requirement for Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) for defence preparedness has been assessed and laid down in the Long Term Integrated Perspective Plan (LTIPP) document for the period 2012- 2027. Disclosure of further information on the subject is not in the national interest.

The Main Battle Tanks (MBTs) ARJUN Mark I have been manufactured indigenously and ARJUN Mark II is under development. The T-90 tanks are manufactured indigenously by Ordnance Factory Board (OFB) under licensed production from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). The Future Main Battle Tank (FMBT) is under indigenous design and development.

T-90S are being produced in India as part of an existing contract. Work is on for the Arjun MK.2 and the IA's future tanks requirements aka FMBT (being designed and built in INDIA).

My mistake. I just assumed that was a tender list for everything India wanted to purchase.

nice thread mate... I like the fmtb part which is new to me... yea @danger007 i agree with iaf and navy these two any cost... We cant even scrap the deal now. Just we need to hurry.. What i know what i am seeing is AI and IN started its Modernization picking up the speed slowly but when it comes to IAF.... we all know. our sqdnt number depleating rapidly. i only see few few hidden back up base nothing else. we need to jet the jets. when i head about Mmrca seriously it i feel like banging my head. lca,delyd, lch.. delyd. new mmrca deltd. its almost 8 years and we havent got 1 single damn jet... ahhhhh

i agree with you however i'm very confident that things would get better from this year..we'll see different contracts and inductions for atleast 2 years.particularly mmrca,viki,arihant,and modernization of army

is this Passive Night Vision is helmet mounted one or just scope that'll be mounted on rifle??

correct me if i'm wrong but i think navy is so far the most indegenized defence arm and we've outsourced only after our dock yards are full..

Yes, because our naval industry far ahead of our aero industry, but still, most naval aircrafts are foreign once, infact according to current plans nearly 100% of the future naval helicopter fleet will be foreign and that although helicopters are one of our successful fields.
