Research team stumbles upon rare documents at Kidangazhi Mana
A research team from Calicut University has stumbled upon a heap of rare documents that have the potential to redefine the history of Malabar during the British era.

The documents found at the Kidangazhi Mana at Porur, near Wandoor, in the district can help historians re-read Malabar’s history of the 19th and 20th centuries.

P. Sivadasan, head of the history department who led the research team, said they had found many rare documents and books during a search conducted at the Mana.

The documents found with British stamps on them threw light on the shift of power from the Mysore regime to the British. Many palm leaves recovered from a temple at Karikkad, near Manjeri, about a year ago too had thrown light on this power shift.

“We have found hundreds of documents. All of them have great significance from a history researcher’s point of view,” Dr. Sivadasan said.

The documents threw light on the domestic, social, agricultural, industrial, political and cultural lives that existed in the 19th and 20th centuries. A rare book of etiquette meant to be followed by educated women of landed families was among the finds.

Rare books such as G. Sankara Kurup’s Tipu Sultan and a 1892 land survey handbook are among the history team’s prized recovery. The famous Pattambi Panchangam, published in 1900, was also found.

“The documents refer to bicycle, agricultural implements, domestic utensils, vehicles and foreign trips. All these are good enough to have a fresh look at the social history of Malabar in the 19th and 20th centuries,” said Dr. Sivadasan.

Tippu is not shivaji, tippu was a tyrant, and he was a religious bigot unlike shivaji who looked upon everyone as equal, shivajis artillery commander was a Muslim and a maratha, unlike tippu who never encouraged local language and culture, he encouraged Persian, and many people did not like it, even local Muslims, he was forgotten until a serial called the "sword of tippu sultan" was telecast in DD produced by sanjay khan, and vijay mallya bought his sword from sothbys in england, tippu was as dark as charcoal, unlike he was portrayed in the serial  and what is his contributions in the improvement in the life of the people who lived under him, he was just a war monger, and a bad administrator.

I hope you know that Shivaji massacred gujratis and destroyers temples in gujrat.

Tipu had a large number of Hindus in his army and was a patron of temples.

Shivaji looted surat because it was under mughal control and had a british garrison and factory there. He however did not destroy any temples.

Here is a story from Pakistan during the same time as Shivaji.

Hakikat of Basant Panchami
BY DIMPLE · PUBLISHED FEBRUARY 1, 2017 · UPDATED FEBRUARY 1, 2017

This Basant Panchami, as we pray to the Goddess of Learning, it is noteworthy to learn about the teenaged Khatri boy Hakikat Rai Puri of Sialkot who was beheaded by a benevolent Maulvi on this very day in 1732!

This brave and highly intelligent son of Lala Bhagmal Rai Puri and Kora Devi was born in the year 1719. His strong intellect and sharp grasping power made his father send him to a Maulvi to learn Persian – the lingua franca of the times. The high praise that his brilliant performance fetched him from the Maulvi made one of his classmates (the son of the Maulvi) jealous. Provoked by an argument over some disconnect in spellings, the classmate falsely accused Hakikat of blasphemy. Hakikat denied having made any derogatory utterances yet he was arrested.

His father, the wealthy Khatri merchant Bhagmal, kept beseeching the Maulvis for leniency from punishment (Death or Conversion) but they did not relent. He was taken to Lahore on foot and not allowed to use any other mode of transportation even when offered by Hindus on the way. He was beaten and abused on the way. He reached Lahore after two days and was presented before the local Provincial Governor, Zakaria Khan who was the son of Abdus Samad Khan, the Governor of Sarhind, who had tortured Banda Singh Bahadur to death in 1716.

When the Governor confirmed the punishment, the fearless teenager asked the Maulvis if converting to Islam would make him immortal. When they responded in the negative, he queried aloud as to if that was not so, why would he even think of abandoning his great religion! Towards the end, even his distressed parents implored him to convert to stay alive but the brave teen was steadfast. He told his mother that it was she who had taught him that there is nothing greater than Dharma and he could not go against her teaching!

Thereafter, on the day of Basant Panchami, they started stoning him alive in accordance with the prescription in Sharia for blasphemers. Hakikat kept chanting ‘Ram Ram’ till he was half dead. At this time, a benevolent Maulvi beheaded him to save him from further pain.

A temple was made in his memory which is still standing in Lahore as a testimony to the valour exhibited by this precocious teenager on that Basant Panchami. Till the partition of India, Hindus used to assemble there and offer their respect at his samadhi.

This incident clearly illustrates the condition of Hindus in Mughal India and has been narrated by Ganesh Das in the Book Chahar Bagh-e-Punjab.

Basant used to be celebrated in Pakistani Punjab till as late as 2004. It was put to a stop by religious clerics and historians iafter the Pakistani newspaper Nawa e Waqt printed that Basant was a celebration of blasphemy committed by Hakikat Rai.

In fact, Tipu may be more Hindu than Shivaji. Tipu has temple in his palace. He wore blessed rings and conducted poojas. He was just like a Hindu. I mean, the son of an immigrant Punjabi Hindu convert (Hyder Ali) to Islam who lived in Mysore. He carried all the ancientness of his previous culture. Not even an invader.

However, for a short period during his invasion on Malabar and Tulunad, he became a Gazi...the pious Muslimeen like Aurangazeb you know famous for? lakhs of Hindus, Christians forcibly converted to Islam; Lakhs were killed.
Till this day, The dogs in Kerala's (Malabar) houses have "Tipu" as the popular name due to the disgust Malayalis carry for him (of course, except Muslims.).

Yes, he was so much rooted that he did not even know Kannada, the language of the land he was suppose to rule.

He not only changed the names of all cities and towns in Karnataka into Islamic names, he also changed the official langue from Kannada to Persian

Till date the Iyengars of Mandyam region do not celebrate Deepavali, the reason ? TIPU and his troops killed 800 men on the day of Naraka Chaturdashi (the day before Deepavali). TIPU had all of them killed as he suspected that one of them Tirumalai Iyengar was trying to resurrect Wodeyars (the original Kings of Mysore before Tipu and Hyder Ali) in Mysore.

Did Tipu have any proof against Tirumalai Iyengar at that time ? NO ....... He just received information that this man might be plotting against him and he got 800 people killed.

On the handle (hilt) of the Tipu Sultan's steel Sword was the following inscription (translated to English) in praise of the Almighty (Muhammad of Islam):

"My victorious sabre is lightning for the destruction of the unbelievers. Haidar, the Lord of the Faith, is victorious for my advantage. And moreover, he destroyed the wicked race who were unbelievers. Praise be to him, who is the Lord of the Worlds! Thou art our Lord, support us against the people who are unbelievers. He to whom the Lord giveth victory prevails over all (mankind). Oh Lord, make him victorious, who promoteth the faith of Muhammad. Confound him, who refuseth the faith of Muhammad; and withhold us from those who are so inclined. The Lord is predominant over his own works. Victory and conquest are from the Almighty. Bring happy tidings, Oh Muhammad, to the faithful; for God is the kind protector and is the most merciful of the merciful. If God assists thee, thou wilt prosper. May the Lord God assist thee, Oh Muhammad, with a mighty victory."

This can be the reason why Pakistanis too can be taking credit of Tipu. He is a Aulia for many of them; Who knows? Not alone Tipu Sultan, we have great examples recently as in Hitler or Indian rightwing leader to whom goes the credit of mass murders.

The Malabar Manual mention that the Maniyoor mosque was once a Hindu temple. The local belief is that it was converted to a mosque during the days of Mysore rule underTipu Sultan. ... It was heartrending even to imagine thedestruction caused by Tipu Sultan in the famous ancienttemples of Thalipparampu and Thrichambaram.

"Tippu Sultan." Encyclopædia Britannica.

I can post 100 reference but than you will cry that they were Hindu reference. Read Encyclopædia Britannica.
