Our leaders do understand Chinese position. MM is a milking cow for them and they asked us to maintain a status quo and in return they will make sure that the rohingyas will be taken back. China knows what is going on there and they will protect MM in international forum where China has a role to play to keep their good offices in MM. China will say nothing if the case is settled in ICC bypassing China. They will say nothing if EU or USA put sanction unilaterally. Its up to Burmese how they face the singing.

As for the second part, China will make sure that the Rohingya do eventually return. BD as a much larger and unified nation will not put up with Rohingya presence for more than 2-3 years. Worst case scenario, BD will annex northern Arakan for Rohingya to return and China will stand by and do nothing.

That aside, China has a very important interest in maintaining decent relations with BD. You are aware that BD is the fastest growing 100 million+ population economy in the world right now with growth near 8% this fiscal? BD has also been traditionally a pro-Chinese country and the Chinese would like to not completely alienate a homogeneous country of 160 million.

As for your comments on BD military and government you are partially correct. BD governments in the past have neglected the military and so that emboldened the Barman savages back last year. However BN is massively superior to the MN and the BA is man for man far superior to the rag-tag Barman army. Remember BD spends 50% more on the military and has half the soldiers to maintain
We are now seeing massive procurements happening in BD and the only thing left remaining is fighter aircraft and medium-range SAMs. Once these are in place then the military option is on the table.

At the end of the day there is no way BD will tolerate hosting 1 million Rohingyas forever and if it needs military force then the 3.5x larger economy will use it.
