Ties with China good for region: Bangladesh PM

Now, another proverb, 'Udor Pindi Budor Ghare.' You keep on occupying Kashmir, and Pakistan tries to wrestle it away from you by force. You are responsible for all those wars that you have mentioned except one. I agree that you have helped BD in its just war against Pakistan in 1971. But, it is not that India loves freedom. India had its own geopolitical interest in breaking Pakistan into two, and we had our reason to fight against Pakistan. Our two countries fought together in 1971 because of the reasons above.

But, India wanted BD to be a toothless tiger. We did not accept the terms that India wnted to impose upon us. India was doing a mistaken calculation that anti-Pakistan means an automatic pro-India. India wanted to impose its will on us which we have rejected. Only because of India's high handed dealing with BD, the latter went after arming itself. It was the only way to get rid of Indian hegemony. Friendship must be won with mutual understanding and it cannot be imposed from one side. This is why Indian Chanakkyas are a bunch of fools. Hasina or no Hasina, BD is no friend of India.

can you tell me what those terms were?????.....never heard of it!!!!..............you just tell me why would we want to annex/make it a pet bangladesh?????.........bd is not in a geo-strategic position......it is affected by cyclones,etc!!!!!........a strong and friendly bd is in our interests!!!!!........we have enough problems and we don't want any more!!!!

You see, how you have reacted when we talk about Indian unfairnesses. You, like all your politicians, are here to punish Bangladesh for defying India. So, India has an attitude problem. This is the reason why we dislike India, and are trying hard to build up our defenses with Chinese assistance, and we feel China is our ally.

Indira Ghandi never really respected a self sufficient Bangladesh. Sure, they started out pretty positively due to India's role in the Liberation War. And then, the whole thing just went downhill. The woman was ruthless, too ruthless in fact. She's probably the most hated politician in South Asian history.

I understand that you want good relations with Bangladesh, but I'd suggest that you do some research before posting ignorant comments. Bangladesh-India relations aren't as simple as you are assuming.

Among all countries, Bangladesh's most complex relationship is with India, and it often fluctuates from time-to-time. The Zia and Ershad eras were more or less neutral to India; that is neither enemy or ally.

And as if Bangladesh wasn't important for India as you are claiming, the relationship wouldn't have been so complex in the first place. Yes, even after the end of the Ershad-era. Understand that India is thirty times larger than Bangladesh.

It appears to me that India wants Bangladesh to be used as a vassal state with Bangladesh gaining little or no benefits. Especially in regards to maintaining all forms of control over NE India.

And that is what Bangladeshis do not want. From experience, India is often perceived as unable to keep promises. It just shows that Bangladesh cannot rely on India alone for everything if it is to be self-sufficient and prosperous.

As far as gaining any real trust from India, that'll take a long time, coupled actual commitment with no hidden agendas. And I doubt if India politicians have that commitment.

As long as India is still developing, Bangladesh will always remain in India's shadow. That is, theoretically.

Good.

Why india got so nervous about Sino-bangla tie?

I don't think India is too nervous. But do try to be competitive as far as regional influence go in Bangladesh. And 'keep an eye' on developments. Sino-Indo hostilities are over-rated in my opinion.

As far as some of these 'e-Indians' go in Bangladesh defense, they are all about the following:
1. Illegal immigration (99% of the time in every thread).
2. Why bring India into everything? (they do not know that the current government is politically aligned to India, albeit heavily. Military is a different matter and they deal with their issues differently).
3. What's in there for India?
4. Make fun of China.
5. Make fun of Pakistan.
6. If Bangladeshis do not agree with them with every word that Indians say, the Indians say the Bangladeshis here are either false-flagger Pakistanis or Razakars.

This mostly applies to relatively new members.

Even a single life is too precious to be wasted by BSF bullets in the border. BSF itself is a part of Indian govt. It is not that every time MMS will send orders to the BSF. India disregards the lives of Bangladeshis who may be smugglers. They are killed whenever some of them try to avoid paying bribes to the BSF when coming back to BD with smuggled goods.

A life for just a few Paisas? What kind of minds these Indian cowards have! BSF does not even respect their own people at the border. BSF kills our smugglers, you guys come with excuses, craps and sarcasms, but, then asks us to be friendly with you. Never, never it is possible for us to be nice with a gang of killers.

Killing "smugglers" or criminals from another country is not a crime.

They should know the risks when taking on the hazardous jobs.

BTW, BD is not high on the Indians' radar. We only want decent to good relations, nothing more.

Killing anyone without proper court orders is always a crime!!

The border security works differently.

All over the world.

You want courts, commit the crimes in your own country.

If your government has ordered that border killings must be prohibited(as assured to Bangladesh) then its definitely a crime!!

I definitely want peace at the borders and with every country including yours.

Unlawful intruders are legally allowed to be shot if necessary everywhere.

They are obvious criminals and know the risks.
