AMMAN Jordanian-Azeri relations have improved significantly over the past years, with the two sides signing around 40 cooperation agreements in various fields, Azerbaijans embassy in Amman said on Thursday.
In a statement issued on the occasion of Azeri President Ilham Aliyevs October 9 re-election, the embassy highlighted Jordanian-Azeri cooperation.
A joint government committee comprising high-ranking officials from both countries, which held its first meeting in Amman in 2008, is scheduled to meet in Azerbaijan in April next year to discuss means to enhance bilateral trade exchange, the statement said.
Amman and Baku also have ambitious plans to expand their cooperation in education, culture and other fields to serve the interests of their peoples, according to the embassy.
Several Azeri students are currently enrolled in Jordanian universities, while there are around 700 Jordanians studying in Azerbaijan.
Stressing that Jordan and Azerbaijan share similar views on several political and international affairs, the embassy statement commended the Kingdoms efforts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
