Tibetans in India..... did china forgot them?

. .
Thank you for reminding me that China needs to remember that there is the issue of Tibet in India.

You should have just simply admitted you didnt have any answers to those questions.

There is no issue of tibet in India , they can stay here as long as they dont create any troubles for India or any foreign country using this soil.

.
Exactly right.

I have no idea why he expects me to know the "opinions" of Tibetans who live in India, and to answer on their behalf. I have never even been to Xizang.

How am I supposed to answer such questions?

you guys have an average living standard which is better than the average living standard than that of an Indian , you giys have an infrastructure which is much better than India's then why do tibetans want to remain in exile ?

what conditions are there in tibet to which they dont want to return and face ?

dont you even want to ponder upon it ?

If you dont , well why should we care , its none of our business anyways .

Hindi-Chini bhai bhai:cheers:

I wanted to discuss this with Chinese members on this forum

there are many questions in my mind for tibetans which are in exile in India...

common man in India think tibetans are very tolerant and peace loving human beings and they are in India because china do not want them to live in their home country

and these are my questions

1. why china dont except tibetans(in exile) as its citizens?

2. there are news china is exploiting tibetan natural resources without giving share to locals... Is it true?

3. why tibetans in india do not want to go back to their motherland?

4. why tibetans continuously protest against china outside china ?

5. although they are not creating any problem for india but how long they are to stay in india... when its already more than half century they staying here?

6. every year thousands of tibetans come to India illegally.... Are they having some problem in tibet.?

7. Dalai Lama had already said he want to return Tibet why China dont give him chance?

8. Why they are forced to run a govt. in exile which absolutely have no power... and its annual budget is made by the charity given by tibetans all around the world?

I dont know it is good or bad but common indian has a soft corner in his heart for the tibetans.... every tibetan in India has pain in his heart ..that can be clearly seen in his eyes

Who is responsible for their present condition?

(no offense to any one)

1) Tibetan-in-exiles are Chinese citizens unless they opt for another citizenship (upon which their Chinese citizenship will be automatically revoked).

2) Depends what it is meant by 'giving share to locals'. Mining in Tibet creates tax revenue for local government and work opportunities for local people, so yes locals are getting a share. What happens in Tibet and Xinjiang is some people seems to think they're entitled to cash handouts from those projects. Which almost no country gives. What's the last time Australians getting cash handouts from selling natural resources to China?

3 & 4 & 6) They have their reasons, imaginary or real.

5 & 7) They'll probably stay there indefinitely. China offered Dalai Lama a very generous deal back in the 80s, which Dalai turned down thinking PRC will collapse soon. He placed the wrong bet and China is no longer interested in offering the same deal again.

8) They chose to run such a government, no one is forcing them to.

1. why china dont except tibetans(in exile) as its citizens?

^^^^ What he said.

2. there are news china is exploiting tibetan natural resources without giving share to locals... Is it true?

True or not, the net flow of money is into Tibet for development. Tibet has better infrastructure than India.

3. why tibetans in india do not want to go back to their motherland?

Ask them, maybe they want to be near the DL. Pilgrimage is very important in Tibetan Buddhism

4. why tibetans continuously protest against china outside china ?

Because, the ones kicked out in 1959 were the land-owners and serf-owners. They want their privileged status and power back. Also part of American containment strategy.

see

5. although they are not creating any problem for india but how long they are to stay in india... when its already more than half century they staying here?

Ask your own government.

6. every year thousands of tibetans come to India illegally.... Are they having some problem in tibet.?

See #3 and again pilgrimage is very important in Tibetan Buddhism.

7. Dalai Lama had already said he want to return Tibet why China dont give him chance?

He can as soon as he renounced his separatist ambitions.

8. Why they are forced to run a govt. in exile which absolutely have no power... and its annual budget is made by the charity given by tibetans all around the world?

They want back into power, so they have an government organization ready for when that happens but their chances don't look good.

I dont know it is good or bad but common indian has a soft corner in his heart for the tibetans.... every tibetan in India has pain in his heart ..that can be clearly seen in his eyes
Ok? it is that question or a commentary.

Who is responsible for their present condition?

They are, unless you clarify specifically what you mean by "their present condition".

Different people will have different answers to your questions, as the world is so diversed. So let me try mine.

1. why china dont except tibetans(in exile) as its citizens?
 I read some articles on this. Basically many Tibetans in India or Nepal do not have proof of their Chinese citizenship. Many of them ran out of China just wanting to see Dalai Lama without having a passport. When they feel disappointed at him, disappointed at India, and they now see a good life back home and want to enjoy it, but have no proof of their citizenship. So, too bad.

2. there are news china is exploiting tibetan natural resources without giving share to locals... Is it true?
 In fact, central government has aided Tibet a great deal to make Tibet richer than India. Pray tell what resources the rest of China has exploited and how many/much?

3. why tibetans in india do not want to go back to their motherland?
 See my answer in 1.

4. why tibetans continuously protest against china outside china ?
 Because many of they can earn their living more easily in India and elsewhere by doing so. Dalai Lama got huge amount money from CIA and West. This is a well known fact.

5. although they are not creating any problem for india but how long they are to stay in india... when its already more than half century they staying here?
 It’s up to GOI. But I believe they can be served as a convenient tool for GOI to use. Don’t you GOI and the folks there like it gleefully?

6. every year thousands of tibetans come to India illegally.... Are they having some problem in tibet.?
 Most of them want to see Dalai Lama for religious reasons. Many of them are disappointed afterwards thanks to Western/Indian propaganda.

7. Dalai Lama had already said he want to return Tibet why China dont give him chance?
 Because China doesn’t want him to become a slave-owner again in a civilized country. And he was told “Not a chance, buddy”.

8. Why they are forced to run a govt. in exile which absolutely have no power... and its annual budget is made by the charity given by tibetans all around the world?
 Dalai Lama wants to restore his old serfdom theocracy which can only be partially realized in India, thank to you guys, but not a chance in China. So called “charity” is nothing but CIA/westerners’ money used to destabilize China, much to India’s delight.

I dont know it is good or bad but common indian has a soft corner in his heart for the tibetans.... every tibetan in India has pain in his heart ..that can be clearly seen in his eyes
 No, it is not that Indians have a soft heart: they never show the slightest “softness” towards Kashmirees, for instance; They never show "softness" when relentlessly forward into China's territory, for instance; but rather the Tibetans in exil can be used as a convenient tool to against a number one enemy of India.

Who is responsible for their present condition?
 Dalai Lama and his former slave-owners, GOI, CIA, western governments and Chinese government.

Tibetan exiles in Dharamsala, India, settle in with disillusionment

Some who fled Chinese rule for tales of paradise find life isn't what they expected. Others say the tradeoffs are worth it.
COLUMN ONE
September 22, 2010|By Mark Magnier, Los Angeles Times

Reporting from Dharamsala, India — Dharamsala, the Indian hill town of monks, chocolate pancakes and backpacker kitsch, has long been a mecca for Tibetans fleeing Chinese communist rule. Thousands have made the tortuous journey over the Himalayas from Lhasa, drawn by the promise of a new life, freedom of expression and the presence of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who arrived in 1959 after he fled Tibet.

But it's also become a town of tarnished illusions, homesickness, intrigue and a more nuanced view of China than one might expect from the anti-China posters, anti-Beijing testimonials and shops claiming to shun all Chinese products.

"When I was in China, friends told me Dharamsala was a paradise, you didn't even need money," said Golma, 39, who uses one name. She arrived here several years ago with her husband and young daughter.

"But life isn't easy, and this place is quite dirty," she said, pointing to an open sewer strewn with plastic bags, animal waste and rot ting vegetables. "I couldn't believe the Dalai Lama would live in such a messy place."

In their headlong rush for greener pastures, some Tibetans here say, they underestimated the hardship of starting anew, and even the benefits of living under Chinese rule.

Tibet has lived in the shadow of — or been outright controlled by — its powerful neighbor for centuries. Chinese troops invaded in 1950, and some exile groups continue to call for Tibetan independence.

In 2003, Tsering Dolma, like many, sneaked over the mountains from the Tibet Autonomous Region with the help of a paid guide after friends in Lhasa, the Tibetan capital, told her Dharamsala was heaven on Earth, every tree weighed down by juicy peaches, her favorite fruit.

"After I got here, I kept thinking, 'There must be another India I'm missing,' " the waitress said. "Now I want to go back, but can't. I'm stuck."

An estimated 2,000 to 2,500 Tibetans arrive annually, and their numbers in India totaled 110,000 at the last census, in 2001. Tibetans in the country can't vote or get a passport but are free to work and own property.

The most common problems faced by the newly arrived exiles, said Nawang Thogmed, a Tibetan government-in-exile official, include language barriers, their dislike of Indian food, and the warm weather, which makes their traditional woolen garments and yak-hide apparel uncomfortable.

Rest of the article.

Some Indian members like questioning others, why Chinese do this, why Chinese do that?

But the questions they ask are too simple, sometimes naive.

You love using that phrase, don't you?

I think this is the first time i used this phrase. So i don't know if i liket it or not.

When Jiang Zemin used it, it was seen as extremely rude and unprofessional.

Though i am not a fan of Jiang, i can understand why Jiang was upset and used that phrase.

If you want to accuse me of being rude, so be it. I am being rude to an Indian who wasn't nice to Chinese in the first place. Therefore, i won't apologize for quoting that phrase.

如果对我有什么意见,我们可以私下用中文解决。我不太习惯用英语跟自己人交谈。

Then send me a PM if you want to continue.

I just think that Jiang's little outburst was in extremely poor taste, but then again... I am a Xiang gang ren, so maybe my perspective is different?

This is an interesting article. So apparently, many Tibetans who went to India are actually quite unhappy that they left Tibet in the first place?

I wonder has there been any sort of "neutral" opinion poll regarding the opinions of the Tibetan diaspora worldwide?

I don't think the Western/Indian media are neutral on this issue, so they will of course print a lot of exaggerations, or over-emphasize individual testimonies in order to provide a skewed picture.
