Yes, I did say Ganesha and Buddha didn't I?

But does that mean that many of the members here on this forum are committing capital crimes?

I see religious abuse on this forum all the time. Either Indians making fun of Islam or Pakistanis making fun of Hinduism. It is strange to think they are punishable by death but so commonly practiced without even being banned?

I don't know if the laws apply online.
I spirit of the law was to prevent communal violence in Pakistan.
Online, well Indians are not in Pakistan and Pakistanis are not in India so you can't really have communal violence right?
Besides, everyone here is just a keyboard warrior, non of us have the balls to do anything in real life.

That one British time law, real problem arised with the misuse of 295C which Ziaul Haq added.

That still doesn't change the fact that majority of people convicted have been Muslims and not a single non Muslim has been executed.
You are grasping at bigoted straws.

Is it a capital crime (punishable by death) to insult a religion other than Islam?

Forget death sentence or even conviction of any kind, Have you ever heard of a Muslim being booked under this law?

Forgive my ignorance, but can you cite any example where a Muslim was booked for insulting religions other than Islam?

I haven't seen any specific cases.

And I wouldn't know where to find a list.

Though I wouldn't mind at all if those Taliban who blew up the Buddha statues in Pakistan got what was coming to them.

I never heard any case where Muslim had been booked for insulting Hinduism or Chrisitanity. If Muslims were arrested they were arrested for disrespecting Islam.

Me neither, so you get the answer to your original question I guess. ;)

South Asia is well-known for having a very free (and sometimes messy) media.

So if there are cases then it should be easy to find them online.

There's some disconnect here. For example pakistanis (as per their constitution) say Ahmadis are a separate religion - so protection of their religious feelings should be covered right?

But there was this program on TV where the presenters (aalim online) made horrible abusive fun of the Ahmadi founder and also said ahmadis were wajib-ul-qatl -i.e. ok to kill. Two ahmadi doctors were shot dead after the program. If you think the presenter was arrested for blasphemy, or hurting the religious sentiments of ahmedis or even hate speech, think again.

I remember one case when a Muslim was arrested for blasphemy towards Christianity. Would share with you when I find it.

In any case a huge majority of people booked under this law are muslims unlike the lies that Bharatis often spread. Hope you got the point. It is just a case of bigoted Indian hindus and fans of someone like Modi preaching others about secularism and minorities protection.

First ask your India muslim personal law board to include an Ahmadi representative. After that you might be in a better position despite all your hypocrisy to talk about minority persecution.

I was actually thinking of my personal experience.

One of my distant family members is a Chinese Christian living in Canada, and when I was young I remember her saying "If you are not a Christian you will go to Hell".

And I have seen cases where Muslims will also say "If you are not a person of the book, you will go to Hell".

But even though they may believe this to be true (according to their theology - fair enough) isn't it insulting to other religions as well? Does that come under such laws?

As @Rusty has already cleared about blasphemy law. One more thing I want to add is that till today no Christian or Hindu has been death sentenced because of this law.

I am telling you this because these Bharartis and their type won't tell you guys about it.

So according to you, blasphemy laws would be deemed questionable only if a death penalty would be slapped on a minority?

What about Pastor Rashid Emmanuel and his brother Sajid? The poor guys were shot dead before trial. So yes, technically, a death penalty had not been slapped on them.

What about Shahbaz Bhatti, another catholic? He tried to reform the blashpemy laws, which itself was perceived as blasphemous and was again shot down. Again, no death penalty, mind you.

What about Rimsha Masih, another christian, who is currently facing trial?

What about killings of Christians in Gojra, due to alleged blasphemy? Again, no death penalty in accordance with the laws.

What about hector aleem, a christian social worker? He was proved innocent, yet had to evade assassination attempts?!

What about ayub masih, the cathoic bricklayer. He was shot at in the Sessions Court. He was later attacked in the jail.

Obviously, what you say - about no catholics or hindus having been given the death sentence - is right. A pre-requisite for a court to slap a death sentence on the guilty is that the under-trial is alive at the time the sentence is awarded.

But you guys, clearly, take care of things before-hand, don't you?!?
