Thousands gather in Dhaka protesting persecution of Muslims in India

Thousands of people have gathered in Dhaka city in protests against the persecution of Muslims in India.

As part of their protests, they started marching towards the Indian embassy, but police put a barricade before them as they reached Purana Paltan crossing starting from the premises of the national mosque of Bangladesh Baitul Mokarram in the city around 10:30am.

Islami Andolon, a minor Islamist political party, have organised the mammoth rally.
