i am not talking about "hindus" but the sangh parivar whose one leader, maneka gandhi, banned the killing of stray dogs during her term as "environment minister" in the bjp government of 1998 to 2004, and that lead to increase in dog population, stray and within compounds, to the present 50+ million, leading to not only brutal dog attacks on humans ( and deaths ) but also to the almost-extinct status of cats.

maneka gandhi must be tried for the genocide of cats and for murder of humans by dogs... she is a psycho... and dogs are everywhere in india now, not only on roads and in houses, but also in films, on tv and they have special dog-friendly restaurants in bangalore... this is madness !!

She does not kill or advocate to kill cats (even she would oppose it strongly).
Stray Dogs are menace I agree but why kill someone instead Vasectomy or Tubectomy is.
Cats are also not better for Environment like humans ( they kill every thing which they can)

I myself have a Cat of 5 month old & she treat me worse than slaves

India is a Hindu country so if they want to put a ban on eating or slaughtering cows, they can vote on that and if it passes so be it. However, the issue is that large swathes of the Indian population view non-Hindus with mistrust and attack them in mobs even when they suspect they might be eating cow meat. So then you end up with clearly defined lines of us vs them with this case being Hindus vs non-Hindus. I can see this going two ways, one is that the minorities in the country adhere to the laws and learn to live with rising militant Hinduism or eventually there's a civil war in India.

I think the latter is more likely given the fact that India is not a cohesive country but one fragmented by many religions, cultures, ethnic groups, and languages. A large portion of them have had issues with the Hindu Indian government at some point or another and a large civil war could lead to the destabilization and fragmentation of India. So Modi and his supporters should think carefully before they embark on this path. All the gains India has made in the last 15-20 years could easily be reversed.

1. what is "green card politics" in me suggesting that reactionary statements ( and ideology ) must not be allowed??

2. majoritarianism is anti-democracy and dictatorship.

Welcome to " Dev Bhumi" Uttaranchal....

thank you for the welcome, and uttaranchal may be beautiful, but that has nothing to do with the humans who live there... do the swiss also call their land ( similar to uttaranchal ) as "dev bhumi"??

no, she doesn't care for cats... there can be either dogs or cats, and for her matter dogs... there has not been a single statement by her in love and support of cats since 1998... how can she be unaware that cats have almost ceased existing in indian cities and towns?? how can she be ignorant that to kill a single cat gather a pack of eight to ten dogs who proceed to kill the cat brutally over 15 to 20 minutes, with most people not bothering to be saddened by the dying cries of the cat??

Stray Dogs are menace I agree but why kill someone instead Vasectomy or Tubectomy is.

vasectomy or tubectomy neither removes the cruel, aggressive and gang-based-killer nature of dogs, nor does it prevent dog population from increasing because newer dogs keep joining the gangs in each street.

there will not be a single instance of a area where dogs have died off over years because of tubectomy and vasectomy... these two techniques are simply excuses by dog lovers.

the indian supreme court is presently thinking into the matter... my thread from two days ago ( indian supreme court speaks against the dog menace ).

but the only solution for the dog problem is...

'Dog-Hunters' Plan Nationwide Killing Spree on Streets of Russia

China: We will kill your dog, local authority tells pet owners

58,000 dogs killed in Baghdad in campaign to curb attacks by strays

and kerala is doing a good job ( This Is What Kerala Officials Say About Mass Dog Killings ).

some years ago, i myself used to shoot dogs with a air-rifle... didn't kill them but put great fear into them... i wanted to teach the locality's people that they should do like me... they didn't and allowed dogs to kill humans and cats.

Cats are also not better for Environment like humans ( they kill every thing which they can)

that they kill "everything" is a exaggeration.

a good city is a compromise between humans and cats... cats bring harmony... a society that does not respect cats is a society that rejects civilized and gentle ways... the best men and cultures in the world have had respect for the cat.

for the cat to live and for the human to evolve socially and politically, the dog must be removed... dogs must be eradicated everywhere... i call the dog as "the unspeakable".

I myself have a Cat of 5 month old & she treat me worse than slaves

you are lucky to have a cat living with you... for some years, i raised about six generations of cats, until they all were killed by the unspeakables.

India is a Hindu country

correction... a hindu-majority country, with many hindus being progressives, not only with some being within the socialist movements but also many civilians opposing the reactionary bjp government and its affiliate groups with the sangh parivar. :)

so if they want to put a ban on eating or slaughtering cows, they can vote on that and if it passes so be it.

firstly, the beef within india is not from cow but from mostly from buffalo and some from bull... the cows that are killed are really for the leather industry.

Save-cow cost: Industry bleeds, farmers suffer and exports tank - The Times of India

Meat of the matter: How beef ban affects leather, exports and chemical industry | india | Hindustan Times

secondly, "cow slaughter" is a fake campaign, a fear-mongering, a bogeyman created by the sangh parivar as part of their anti-islam agenda.

thirdly, muslims in india wouldn't be lesser islami if they stop eating beef... this i say as a muslim-born... in fact, was beef even available to the early muslims in arabia??

However, the issue is that large swathes of the Indian population view non-Hindus with mistrust and attack them in mobs even when they suspect they might be eating cow meat.

right.

So then you end up with clearly defined lines of us vs them with this case being Hindus vs non-Hindus. I can see this going two ways, one is that the minorities in the country adhere to the laws and rising militant Hinduism or eventually there's a civil war in India.

a civil war is likely... i was discussing this with a friend offline some months ago.

I think the latter is more likely given the fact that India is not a cohesive country but one fragmented by many religions, cultures, ethnic groups, and languages.

yes, the foolish phrase "unity in diversity" that indian establishment propagates is a fallacy, and the foolish statements that many unthinking indians say with pride "in india, language and food change every hundred kilometers" is really the cause for disunity and something not to be celebrated really.

look at the indian states structure... in the "states reorganization act" of 1956, states were created/reassigned on lingusitic lines and this had bad effect on inter-community relations and inter-language relations... a proper socialist, scientific method for state organization is absent in india.

A large portion of them have had issues with the Hindu Indian government at some point or another and a large civil war could lead to the destabilization and fragmentation of India. So Modi and his supporters should think carefully before they embark on this path.

it is hopeless to expect majority of modi's followers to be subtle thinkers. :)

All the gains India has made in the last 15-20 years could easily be reversed.

in truth, despite the massive urbanization in india in the last 15-20 years, it did not really bring "civilized city thinking" to indian society generally... in fact, all religious communities have seen more reactionaries in this period... it began generally in 1989 with bjp leader advani's "rath yatra" ( a country-wide religious-awakeing tour in a mini-truck-turned-chariot ) and many fool muslims affected by khomenei's death fatwa against rushdie and slowly turning reactionary.

in truth, whatever little progress achieved in previous decades by the progressives in state institutions, socialist movements and civil society, that progress is now under threat by resurgence of reactionaries... look at why intellectuals have been returning awards... indian society has mostly gone back to pre-1947 status.
