Children should not know about molestation..hmm..fine..too bad that doesn't work too well when a five year old gets molested.
Mamta is a dingbat. Even the little good she has done by taking certain stands is because they are populist stands and not born of her own conviction.
Oh well..what should I say..I get to have the curious fortune of belonging to both Bihar and WB..and see both the states become the definitive examples of Hanlon's Razor!
Daffa karo! FULL ON BAKWAAS KAR RAHI HAI!
She did. After Laloo's bright years(of course this had nothing to do with Laloo's brightness), Indian Railways is again staring at an abyss now.She is the former minister of Indian railways, I am curious if she's ever done any impressive work when she's in that position

She did....she established four committees on different matters like-safety, amenities etc and put her chamchas (intellectuals who were supporting her) for a salary of Rs 50k per months and other facilities. 27 out of 28 persons on these committees were from Kolkata and known Pro-Mamata intellectuals- Artists, Musicians, Theater Artists etc. Other one from Manipur (only state other than Bengal where TMC did exist).
She named the new Rail stations of extended Kolkata Metro after famous Bengali personalities. No wonder these stations bear name of some persons instead of places (what a confusion for new passengers!). Now If you want to go Tollygunj, you have to buy ticket for Uttamkumar; similarly there are Kobi Najrul, Surya Sen and I am confused which places they are associated with.
As the saying goes, even a broken clock is correct twice a day.
But I hope she will tone down after her party inevitably gets drubbed in LokSabha polls. Whatever 'front' she joins will be ruined. I will be surprised if she ends up with any other option than Congress. They are prepared to hold umbrellas to every tom idck harry ready to be their chamcha.

That is impressively...bad.
Indian railway ministers seem to have incredibly short terms except for Lalu Yadav. This gives me the impression that the ministers did not have much power and time even if they had the will to improve Indian railways. I am again curious if India government wants to improve railways and introduce bullet trains etc, who will be in charge of that? Apparently you cannot count on the minister because he/she will only serve for one or two years, or even months. Sorry for the off topic question but this is really bugging me.
The officials in Indian Railway proved during Laloo's time that if left alone, they can do a good job of managing it. Btw he served for full 5 years in the post. The short terms of railway ministers is nothing by design. For example, Mamta Banerjee left the post only because she wanted to become WB CM. Her party man got the post later but she herself in a fit of populist display asked PM to dismiss her own party's minister(instead of calling him directly to resign) because apparently he introduced a budget which burdened common man. She then nominated another guy who had to resign when Mamta's party exited the UPA coalition. People somehow ignored her erratic nature then. That is impressively...bad.

This ministry is most demanded by the allies of the main parties both in NDA and BJP. Every Railway ministers used it to gain local popularity by announcing new projects and trains in their respective states. I think the Ministry should be abolished (Cong and BJP leaders must seat together to save railway from these whimsical regional parties) and Railway should be formed as a Government Company with some freedom to run efficiently.

Coming back to minsters, as a general rule, if the minister is from Congress, they do not have any real power. Traditionally railway minister post is given away to coalition partners to make them seem important. That way those parties get the respect of getting to introduce a separate budget with huge outlay, without any real say in the all important home and foreign affairs. This is also good for the country because crazies like Mamata sit as Railway minister rather than as foreign minister raking up $hit$torms everyday. After Mamata's party left the coalition, Congressmen took turns in the post. The post is being used as a bench for politicians who deserve a spot in the Cabinet. As I mentioned before Congress ministers are figureheads anyway.
But believe me railway ministers are short on both time and will to improve railways. They are forced to increase trains and train routes to places where their party want more votes rather than places which need more railway coverage or places where railways get more revenue. And if a party like RJD or TMC comes to power, they basically steal the railway budget for their states. Bihar is so especially, even with very low revenue, the number of new trains went to the region disproportionately.
But one thing is for sure. Without the minister's consent nothing can happen and they definitely have the power to break(whether they care to make one is a different matter) a project.
And Indian government is not interested in bullet trains. The cost per passenger will be high and our railways have to compulsively charge low fare because we are a poor country. So we may be looking at good fast metro railways but definitely not bullet trains. If you are interested to push for bullet trains, the one in charge only madam Sonia. Railways are back to bailout days and cannot undertake projects like bullet trains. So unless the PMO and Sonia decides that Railways should get a new fund for bullet trains, it won't happen. And it won't happen because next year's budget will be an election budget and the UPA government will want the funds to give freebies to people. Or wait for Modi or whoever comes to power next and pin your hopes on him/her.
Thanks for the info man. Did not know about the by-election.Even BJP is no less. Last month , in Howrah assembly By-poll (the TMC MP died recently) BJP withdrew their candidate (Despite having 50k plus votes in last election and all the possibility to have more this time) to give her an advantage. TMC candidate won by 26k Votes (eaarlier it was 1,86,000). BJP leaders in WB have suddenly become silent (they were very critical when she was with UPA) about her despite several sensative issues recently. Clearly BJP is expecting her to join NDA this time (She was with NDA and railway minister after formation of her party and left during Godhra-Gujrat riot for minority votes).
All Hail to Mamata didi and you can take Hasina didi too
