This is why the Pakistani ODI team is ranked No. 9

Mohammad Amir runs in for the fourth time in the innings and bowls a fuller delivery, searching for his trademark late swing.Considering the left-armer’s failure to extract lateral movement throughout the tour, one is heartened to see him target full-length.

The pressure built on England opener Jason Roy is eased as the delivery, after taking a thick edge of the right-hander’s bat, smashes into the advertising skirting at deep square-leg.

Mohammad Nawaz guarding the fence does everything right to execute the dive. But he doesn’t show willingness to stretch his hand towards the ball out of anticipation that his teammate, who is chasing the ball alongside, will secure the boundary.

Three deliveries later, Babar Azam commits a heinous crime as he lets the ball pass through his legs at the cover region for Alex Hales to steal a four off Hasan Ali’s short of the length delivery.

That is how the benevolence of Pakistani fielders allows England’s openers to break their shackles and open their accounts.

2019 is a long way mate. There is still time, one bad series/day doesn't mean that you write off the team. :(

Moreover there won't be any fun in watching world-cup without Pakistan, especially India-Pak match. :)

Qualifying date is Sep 2017 mate ...

The reason is because there isn't enough infrastructure to support talent in Pakistan, they are either localized to the cities, or are for people with wealth. Drive around to any village or small town in Punjab (or any province), and you will see the amount of potential.

It is possible, look at the test rankings :pakistan:, for ODI's though the also focus too much on bowling, batting is equally important, and if we can induct some great batsmen into our team then we can easily move up the rankings.

Pakistan will be in 2019 world cup because amount of satta of Pak-Ind match is enough to bring Pak on world cup. :p:

Winning of one day series depends on how may all rounders you have, one cannot win a single one day with 5 specialist bowlers.

Some time ago Pakistan used to have good all rounders and spinners who turned out to be chuckers. From that point on Pakistan have been doing horrible in ODI cricket. Pakistan is playing ODI cricket like test and results are in front of us.

This year is not for Pakistan Sport and hope they do better in future. if they play in Pakistan they would have better chance.

TALENT:
the reason pakistan is lagging isn't lack of talent. even though there is more talent in pakistan than what we see at domestic and international level. we just need to find these people and groom them.

SELECTION:
there are few problems in selection. we still rely on players who are continuously failing. shoaib malik, hafeez are the clear example of failed experienced players. wahab case is special he is our all time hero because of that 5 over good spell against watson when every one knows that he isn't performing at any level.
young players are not given enough chances to increase their confidence. players failing repeatedly are still quite near to be selected again. look at the perfomances of umer akmal and ahmed shehzad against the weaker sides in domestic t20. they have miserably failed. but still we will see them again in our team.

EXPERIENCE:
this team is young and inexperienced. it will take time for them to settle and start delivering. take examples of england and srilanka. srilanka had a bad phase too but now they have starting to win matches against good teams. their bowling was smashed even more by other teams. england too was facing problems. take for example their 2015 worldcup record. the same team was failing but now they are one of the best teams.

Problem is v have alot of talent but only corruption is killing the talent
15 years they are unable to make good pair of openers ... they still have time to think good for cricket
Hope miki as coach and inzamam ul haq as selecter will come up with good solution

cricket is just like every other thing in pakistan taking the last breaths. corruption rules every institute and thus we suck in every field. from sports to politics.
