There is no doubt, that the amount of cultural impact that Zia had on the society of Pakistan is huge- by allowing the filth of society in the clergy to dictate their uneducated and ignorant views upon the population of Pakistan & letting in Afghan refugees without any controls or checks he single handedly destroyed what was a generally tolerant society with regarding to religious beliefs into a society made up of hateful extremists whom we have only recently started to reject; the influx of Afghans brought in massive crime, drugs and complete urban disaster in terms of zoning & population management.

If Jinnah set the mood for a progressive nation built on religious brotherhood & camaraderie regardless of race or sect then the Unionists and their cohorts laid a foundation of racism and exploitative politics whose final snake was Ayub Khan whose racial superiority issues led to Bangladesh along with the ruin of what could have been a completely professional military second to none. These ethnic tensions continued with Bhutto & his aimless quota systems until religious parties stepped in to fill the void for those people who could not identify with ethnic parties. Finally, Zia laid the nail in the coffin of Jinnah's dream and destroyed the idea of Pakistan as he had hoped would be.

Today's Pakistan is NOT Jinnah's Pakistan, it is a mixture of hatred that is made up of religious&ethnic hatred along with ignorance mixed into the blood of the masses. ignorance that has them worshipping individuals, worshipping archaic traditions & shunning positive aspects of their culture whilst holding on to the negative ones out of both isolative fear and misogyny.
It is a nation whose institutions are in shambles & infighting, where apart from a percentage of the educated youth the idea of a united community or united purpose for Pakistan has been abandoned.

The only hope is education and a hope that the destruction laid by the Mutahiddas, Peoples, Leagues, Jamaats, Awamis & Generals are removed.
