It is common to get anxiety from a portable’s low battery that it is not even mentioned clearly. However, a new device from a Kickstarter project aims to solve this anxiety through a device which generates energy anytime it’s shaken.
Made by Michael Vaga of Minsk, Belarus, the so-called HandEnergy uses the mechanical energy generated by your hand’s rotation to activate the device’s gyroscope and convert it into electrical energy. This energy can either be stored on the device or transferred directly to your phone.
To activate the device, you first have to pull and release the starter ring, which sets the gyroscope inside into motion. Twisting your wrist will keep the rotor inside moving. The device’s rotor speed increases with each rotation of the hand, while the average rotor speed is 5000rpm.
HandEnergy could be useful in places which aren’t connected to a power grid, and is also cleaner than traditional means.
The charging speed is claimed to be similar to a wall-charger, while the device itself can be charged in up to an hour. This rate goes down by around 30-percent if a phone is being charged directly. Currently, the project has managed to raise 71,333 Euros, though its goal was 50,000 Euros.
The HandEnergy will be made available starting from March 2017 for a retail price of 99 Euros. Those who funded the project in its early stages will get 30 Euros knocked off that price.
