'This could destroy China': parliament sets Xi Jinping up to rule for life

Judging by their track record of judging China these will be prosperous years and Xi will formally resign very early when his current plan is fully executed and set a good example for the next leaders about responsiblity and not to be corrupted by power.

As long as China's able to maintain steady economic growth and expansion it will be politically stable, if the day ever comes that this changes, I'm sure China can adapt as they see fit.

Meanwhile the US has got an petulant orangutan in the oval office, Britain has voted for its own misery through Brexit and Europe is seeing an insurgent far right. The Chinese can be forgiven for looking at the West's criticism of their internal politics and spotting some very apparent irony.

Yeah, what do the "stupid" people of nation who actually elect know...right?
After all masses should only be controlled. Their opinions don't matter since they don't know any better.

Let's find ways to be more condescending to the common folks while sipping champagne.

two voted against
WOW....didn't expect they will be two people who will dare vote against this. Since such amendments by the leadership is almost always overwhelming passed with every MP voting in favor or occasionally 1 or 2 abstaining. rare to see a NO vote in such a situation. Surprising move then.

this is not the end of china. there are no demonstrations in China. chinese can handle politics
Is it really the case? If true then it's indeed impressive that they are no demonstrations in the country, something we should emulate to meet government objectives on controversial policies without much problem/challenge.

Elections by the masses do not always elect the most qualified person to run a country.

By the time Xi finishes his presidency, China will be by far the largest economy in the world.

With or without adopting SNA2008(Western way of inflating its economy). :D

We sincerely hope that the west will stay true to their electoral system for the next 100 years. ;)

I prefer that the government sticks to the two term limit law made by the founding father of the modern China, Dengxiaoping, but whatever happens, China has been already on the fast track at full speed, she is unstoppable.

That's very elitist and incredibly dangerous.
Point of having everyone participate is to get everyone's concerns and views.

Just like how the most qualified in the nation have their concerns, the least educated and most poor have theirs. It is important to have everyone participate.

No it's not elitist. The smartest and brightness Americans like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and CEOs of the top corporations. They are not elected by everybody.

You think running a company is similar to running a nation?!

I agree 100% with you , sometimes you just need the best guy to run the show
Democracy is a failed concept
Chicken-Chow-Mein-Noodles-made-in-one-pot-lifemadesweeter-4-e1487420465700.jpg

Example:
If you are making , TASTY noodle, with secret receipe and fresh ingredients. And it has the best spices and meat

a) Do you pick , "Master Chef!!!!"
b) or you do ask vote from 100 inexperienced people and choose one of them to cook noodles
Some of them don't even know what Noodle looks like. Or some just microwave their food
May be one of them will put pineapple in noodle x_X

Of course you will say I want GRAND Master Chef to be in charge

I don't wana eat Pineapple Noodle

Democracy gives you idiot like Trump , who just wants to steal every one's else food and make walls, but anything Trump will touch will be just Rotten. He will give you Carrot but tell you it is a Cocolate Bar enjoy it slowly becasue he is a liar

The CHINESE head = ALL WISE , GREAT GRAND MASTER

You mis understand me. To obtain the best qualified person for a job, that person must be selected by it's peers.

Example. Only my peers understand my job. Only a doctor can select another doctor. An electrical engineer will not be able to select the best doctor.

china or any country its not good to having life time rulers new changes are always good .
There are other restrictions such as retiring age.

i am not sure if xi want to rule for life

i promise there are no demonstrations in any chinese cities.
by the way, your would see a lot of comments and news about the collapse of china from CNN or BBC if something wrong really happened in china. CNN and BBC like bad news of china very much. is not it?
