They're Both Smiling, But They're Both Pissed Off

I might believe Mullen to be pissed off.. but Anthony must be wetting his trousers in fear . Some defense minister we have eh? He should have been in a more quieter department like finance or economy rather than an aggressive field like defense.

Hey buddy, the days of Hercules and Achilles are long gone so are the days of the tall and mighty English and French knights running wild in west Asia fighting the crusades. Look at what the diminutive Vietnamese did to the Marlboro men. It is the guys with the brains who rule the roost now and this guy has plenty of savvy.

buddy we'll be supplying those aircrafts to ourselves.

secondly, the F-16s are not outdated but they will play mostly a defensive role as far as our airspace integrity is concerned. We're only getting 18 of them.

everything is relative....i have a problem with you using the word ''junk''

to us its treasure; for $15 million we are making these aircrafts at home (no risk of arms embargo) and they have 4th gen capabilities. All at no risk of US Congress denying the sales.

a deal like that can never be called junk

(PAF F-6 Mig-19 chinese replica 'junk' is known to have shot down indian Mig-21 which is far superior...FYI)

I am not in position to speak on behalf of Pakistanis on this issue. But the common Pakistani in the street doesnt hate America; they are disillusioned with its foreign policy and many feel that there was no problem with terrorism until they made their way into this region by force. To a large extent, I also agree.

they see us as a major ''non NATO ally'' and thusly, we are entitled to address our defence needs and have them be met (of course keeping in mind those pesky US Congressional meetings)

I'm sorry if you feel we are breeding terrorism and are one big devil. That, to me, does sound like crying. But hindustan is never out of character when they do cry about such things, its been going on for years now. We ran out of tissue paper for your river of tears.

you know, i love how your Mr. Menon put it.

Pakistan has an ''addiction'' apparently :rofl::rofl:

Arms sales to Pakistan is like giving whiskey to an alcoholic: Menon

in absense of more subtler & diplomatic language, i would say that this is a prime example of being a whiney b.itch on an international stage. :coffee:

Points well taken buddy.

The latest purchased F16s with all the restrictions on use and oversight are a piece of junk. the money would have been much better spent on education or health ......

Na, i diagree because with WOT going on the the quantity of shells for canons is decreasing, your defense resources are drying up.The country is facing tough time with bomb blasts on weekly basis.
At this critical juncture of time Defense upliftment was more important than spreading education to masses

And then Medicines and Books will fight WOT and protect us if we face a war in future.

For Us survival has a different definition, usually survival means having food and shelter but for us it means first fighting back the threats to our existence and then have some time to sit peacefully and think about food, shelter, medicines & other basic needs.

1947 Pakistan came into existance
1948 Pakistan fought its first war (just in 1 year)
1965 2nd war with India (after 17 years of first war)
1971 3rd war (after only 6 years and we lost BD too)
1980 Soviet - Afghan War (now Pakistan was in the turmoil of cold war which haunted us for decades to come, even now)
1990 Sanctions from West, tension with India, kargil conflict and atom bomb)
2001 Again US-Afghan war and once again Pakistan is in mess)

And we might gain proper control over terrorism but still insurgency will continue to exist and it might take a decades time to completely wipe it out.

India will do well to remove the socialist Antony with someone more in tune with today's world.

India's loss...pay millions and get downgraded P8's. Stupidity without any limits.

Not stupid Mr.Ras..we have our valid concerns regarding sharing of Logistical facilities.

It might be a down grade. But its still better than anything that India can get else where, such as Europe and Russia. So its a good buy from the perspective of India.

Lets face it, a 2nd class weapon from the US in most cases is still better than the top of the line goods developed any where else. So be grateful.

Why should one be grateful when he is paying hard earned cash for a product? unless off-course you're just trolling.

LiveFist - The Best of Indian Defence: They're Both Smiling, But They're Both Pissed Off

Admiral Mike Mullen (left), chairman of the US Joint Chiefs, was in Delhi to (among other things) push forward three stalled bilateral defence agreements that have been stalled with no resolution in sight. His frustration with the status quo emerged at a briefing for journalists that I attended this evening. The three agreements are the politically contentious Logistics Supply Agreement (a euphemism for the ACSA), the Communication Interoperability & Security Memorandum Agreement (CISMOA) -- without which, the US insists, India's C-130Js and P-8Is will be little more than flying hunks of metal -- and the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement for Geo-Spatial Cooperation (BECA). Status: no movement. Indian Decence Minister AK Antony reiterated New Delhi's concerns about Washington's continued supply of conventional armaments to Pakistan under the "delusion" that they're being used in the war on terror, but was politely snubbed by the Admiral, who later said, "I don't believe we've sold them anything that imbalances the capability between the two countries. We do believe they are using everything we supply them with against terror in their country. If that changes, we'd have to look at that."

First of all, Ask this Baldie to work fast on defence procurement ,rather showing concern on neighbours . How many years will it take to purchase new fighters....when ...All brave pilots will either quit Airforce or will become the victims of "Old Garbage".

I'm saying that instead of complaining about this and that, whoever I was talking to should be grateful that India is getting this plane. Its not trolling.

If you are not giving we will get it from some body else..may not as good as yours ...we were here and buying weapons even when US didnt give us weapons.its our cash and you have to be grateful that we are giving you the cash ..and its not trolling

And here lies the point. Everyone sells the weapons. But only US sell the weapon that is better. But when it comes to P8, its the only platform that I believe will work against modern diesel subs. When US developed this platform, Boeing borrow a sub from sweden that is supposely one of the best in the world at the time and use that as a bench mark for testing. It has a diesel sensor that can distinguish the certain percentage of diesel in the water. I do not have the link to the site but I have to go. Maybe one of you guys can help me and look it up. Thanks

We can understand the pissing off of Mullen but Indian's pissing off over sale of few Not-State-of-the-Art F-16s or other stuff as compared to the one being sold to India not only by US but Israel, Russia, and EU countries, the Indian pissing off looks like crying without any reason

Indian pissing off is due to the fact that 90,000 crore rupees i.e. US $ 18 billion of aid for WoT is transferred towards preparing for yet another attack on India like 48, 65,71 etc.

As i told you we will buy weapons from any other country if you are not supplying us..may be not good as yours..but we will not compromise on national security..As you are aware along with P8 European platform was also in offer for anti sub aircrafts..if you didnt give P8,we will happily go for that one..as they said CUSTOMER IS THE KING :partay:
