thanks, is there a thread about it here on PDF already? post me the link please!
Mike Pompeo refuses to sign Afghanistan peace deal

Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state, has refused to sign a peace deal with the Taliban amid growing unease over the draft accord aimed at ending America’s 18-year war in Afghanistan, according to officials.

As a Taliban suicide bomber blew himself up near the US embassy in Kabul yesterday, it emerged that senior figures within the Trump administration harbour deep misgivings about striking a deal with the insurgents that US troops have fought since 2001.

Chief among them is Mr Pompeo, who has declined to put his name to the deal, according to a report in Time. Several former US ambassadors to Afghanistan had already warned in an open letter this week that a hasty withdrawal of American troops risked plunging the country back…

It's a setback for Pakistan as well.

And a bit of relief for India.

I kinda knew talks won't go for long. Due to the fact of very strong Indian lobbying going on here. Finally they succeeded.

Lol no bro, don't over estimate them. It's probably because of the feud inbetween Pompeo and Khalizaad. Pompeo felt missed out. Trump probably buying time now and will sort out issues at his end first before restarting the talks.

The truth is, most Americans wants troops out, which is why Trump and many politicians want the same, to gain in upcoming elections. In the other hand is strong lobbying from Indians and arms industries.

You can laugh as much as you want. I see the reality here. Indian lobby is iron strong here in US.

Death of a soldier or few soldiers can't be kept peace in the Afghanistan hostage. If US prolongs the war it will only leads to more blood shed and more locals and US soldiers will die. Its a longest US war in their history, could have ended a long time ago if US have used cool heads in the heat of the moment.
Their was no cease fire to begin with so why complain and make a song and dance about it. Its in every ones interests peace gets the upmost priority and US forces can leave with dignity, Afghan refuges can go back home and blood shed can be stopped. Deaths of both side of the divide are only making more widows and more families are losing their sons. Their is no other option other then peace in that country.

If that would had been the case, than talks would had never begin at first place or atleast Indians would had been kept in the loop during the talks.

There was no ceasefire agreement in first place.

Secondly, Taliban will be fine with active conflict as they have been fighting for long and made the opponents to peace talks.

Thirdly, Taliban already denied US condition of minimum 5000 or 8000 troops to remain in Afghanistan. That was the point where talks ended.

Fourthly, US used to target Taliban leadership while they were going back or coming to kind of talks - extract them in open in the name of talks tactics.

Fifthly, if US fails to secure these talks, there are more interested regional powers that will dry out US in Afghanistan and that's shouldn't be a surprise.

Sixth, the deep state as well as war industrialists wouldn't let it happen like this to lose profit.

Seventh, Black Water is already interested for take over and opium producing land can't be lost without earning.

Eight, Iran or who can ignore Pakistan, can be next target and NATO needs places.

Ninth, it wasn't ever meant to be peace negotiation since start.

Tenth, wait for somedays, things will get back on track.

By the way, none will break it for one soldier.

Look like Someone told , informed POTUS today about that Kabul blast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol
And here goes peace ,, here goes all the hopes about prosperity in the region ,,, here goes F-16vs ,,,,,,,, Mr.Presdent it is not about Taliban and how long they want to fight it is about US and allies and how long they can fight ...…. You cannot control Afghansitan with 8K troops send 100K more ……

One of the possibility
I say that because of a few things
1.Foreign ministers of UAE & SA visits.
2.China Pak & Afghanistan holds talks today in Pak and on the last minute notice American delegation arrives too.Visits Tarbela Dam & ensures cooperation with Pak.
3.Defense meeting happening in Pakistan this coming week. Sec Def Assistant to Asia and Pacific will be there. Militarily, Afghanistan should come up right?
So now all eyes should be in the defense meeting happening in Pakistan this coming week. Sec Def Assistant to Asia and Pacific will be there. Militarily.
4.American state department's twitter twitter handle tweets about firstly the indian American joint exercise going on & than another one to congratulate them on trying the Chandrayaan mission.

USA will now negotiate after losing more ground to Taliban. Reminding, USA is not negotiating because Taliban were requesting for it - it was USA who had been begging for talks with Taliban.

World is heading to a chaos econicalky most countries suffering due to low bussinesses due to stupid sanction and tarif hikes from US

This will lead to a new world war 3 is now imminent war is going in every corner proxies etc people are not getting decent jobs only weapons market is in full swing

Dangerous times ahead

If that would had been the case, than talks would had never begin at first place or atleast Indians would had been kept in the loop during the talks.

You missed the main component of talks which was strong public pressure in US. Also the trillion plus $$$ that US govt wasted in Afghanistan. In all around the world politicians survive on keeping public on their side.

Taliban have many groups and no single leadership control them so it is difficult for u.s to get overnight peace deal after talks,it will take years for ending this war and it is not an easy job
