The World's Top 100 Airlines in 2014 - 3 GCC Arab airlines in the top 10

Different ratings here?

Heading the list is Air New Zealand followed by Etihad Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Qantas Airways, Emirates, Singapore Airlines, EVA Air, Lufthansa, All Nippon Airways and British Airways.

- See more at: World's Top Ten Airlines for 2015

You do realize that there are different ratings out there right? This one is the most accurate though as apparently 19 million customers have been voting.

In any case Etihad and Emirates are still in the top 10 on your rating. Even higher placed.

They might have voted for Malaysian Air before or after the first flight disappearance in March which might have been a hijacking as there were suspicious Iranians onboard with false passports.

Your Russian "brothers" shot down Malaysia AIrlines Flight 17 over Eastern Ukraine. That's not Malaysia's Air fault.

In 68 years of operating Malaysia Airliens have had 4 deadly plane crashes and 2 of them occurred this year. The only recent ones for the past 20 years. Otherwise the airline had a good reputation.

Yup, the machine under Garuda subsidiary maintenance as well, ( GMF AeroAsia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) and I hope ALLAH SWT protect their planes when ever they fly..........

Actually my mother went to Saudi several weeks ago using this Airline and get through long turbulance and AlhamduliLLAH she and my brother are saved.

Insha'Allah. I am happy for her. Let's hope that Indonesia will not suffer from another air plane crash in a long, long time. Or South East Asia as a whole. You guys have had a rough year.

. .
The list is accurate, but Cathay Pacific is literally head and shoulders above the rest. Their service is incredible, and yes I have travelled on at least five of the others multiple times.
damn I need to travel on 1 more to get to the 5....Turkish airway you are next or maybe Qatar! :p:

 why are you attacking me? why are you offended that I posted a rating where Etihad and Emirates had better ratings??

How am I attacking you? Why should I be offended?

I prefer Emriates and Ethihad over Qatar Airways and I have nothing to do with Qatar.

I just prefer users to read the actual threads before they comment.

There is a difference between a random rating and a list that is based on the opinion of 19 million customers across the world.

Oh, so who was it then? Martians?

That's the last thing that I am.

No, I was not but your post was obviously an attempt to discredit the list which is based on the opinion of 19 million customers across the planet.

Because you started talking about Malaysian Airlines and I told you that they have only had 4 deadly plane crashes since 1948 and 2 of them happened last year and 1 of them was because of Russian separatists that shot the plane down in Eastern Ukraine and killed many innocent people that were going back mainly to Netherlands. It was a big tragedy.

I prefer Ethihad and Emirates over Qatar Airlines but Qatar Airlines is great apparently. Yet to try it. In any case I hope to see more world class Arab airlines.

I do not like to have disagreements with Arab users so let us end this discussion.

I never mentioned Malaysia hahaha... and I posted that link because it gives better ratings to Arabs... whatever you want, I couldn't find a website for you that rate Israel better, sorry I couldn't please you

I was giving different opinion and you went to attack mode... google top airlines in the world

Ok, I mistook a post from an user from India just above your post as your post. Apologies. Never mind.

Actually the link you gave "only" has 2 Arab airlines in the top 10 while the one I posted has 3 in the top 10 and the rating that I have posted uses 19 million customers as a source as written before.

UAE aviation industry to contribute $53b by 2020
Sector expected to provide up to 750,000 jobs

The UAE’s aviation sector is expected to contribute $53 billion (Dh194.5 billion) the country’s economy by 2020, providing up to 750,000 jobs, aviation industry experts said on Sunday at the Future Air Transportation Systems Summit, currently taking place in Dubai.

In the next 20 years, the UAE’s aviation sector is expected to stand next to that of the US and China, according to Jeff Johnson, vice president of Boeing International and president of Boeing Middle East.

He said that the UAE will need more than 55,000 pilots and 62,000 technicians in the same period as a result of its growing aviation industry.

Looking at the Middle East, 3,000 aeroplanes are set for delivery in the next 20 years — triple the current capacity, Johnson said.

Asked about challenges in the aviation industry, Johnson said they included safety, airspace management, infrastructure, finance, and human skills.

“We’ve got a worldwide fatality accident rate of about 0.33 per million departures, and when you look at the anticipated growth, we’re talking about five per cent growth over the next 20 years.

It’s going to be critical that industry, government, [and] regulators team together to make sure that we approve that rate, and we’re able to absorb the growth,” he said.

Meanwhile, air traffic in the UAE is expected to double by 2030, with the country’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) expected to handle 5,100 aircraft movements per day, according to Ahmad Al Jallaf, assistant director general at GCAA’s Air Navigation Services.

The figure marks an increase for the 2,250 movements per day registered in 2014.

“The UAE, in isolation, cannot be in a position to cope with such traffic growth, and this is why the UAE is taking the lead to work with Middle East partners and states to achieve continuous enhancement to the air traffic system because we need the region to be able to manage air traffic,” Al Jallaf told Gulf News.

I expect Saudia to purchase it in the near future as well. KSA is already in the top 15 in terms of most visited countries on the planet and with the rapidly increasing number of pilgrims going for Hajj and Umrah let alone the ongoing development of a real tourism sector in the future the need will definitely be there. Money won't be a problem.

Saudia's current position (77) on that list should be vastly improved in the upcoming years. In 2-3 years time the goal should be top 30.

Saudia has no plans become a "top" airline.

Their mission profile as dictated by government is to provide a reliable service for citizens and visitors.

A job which Saudia does very well.

Cathay Pacific is number 1 again.

Thanks to their non-Chinese Swire management.

and their planes for south asian routes are not even fit to fly to EU

Nothing wrong with Saudia aircraft old or new and all Saudia aircraft are approved to fly into the EU.

They have some of the most highly trained and experienced AMEs in Asia.

their flight planning is the stupidest in the world

Nothing wrong with their flight planning.

I'm aware of the flight planning software and I'm familiar with the Jepps charts they use.

In what way is their flight planning the "stupidest"?

Until recently, Saudia management was staffed by European and American expats, many of whom have/had been working in the airline industry for decades. They've had employees who used to work for the likes of British Airways, GulfAir, Panam etc.

That's a huge and impressive number. Very good. GCC has truly established itself like a international aviation hub yet the potential is still very big and little have been fulfilled.

I believe that as Saudia has a huge potential for expanding due to the ever increasing hajj, umrah not to say the future establishment of a real tourism sector. Tourism has been projected to become a major income source for KSA.

Anyway every single international airline of a certain size should always aim to improve for each year that goes by. Just like Etihad, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Oman Air, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, France Air, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airlines etc. do. So of course Saudia should aim to reach the standards of the neighbors. Anything else would be pathetic. I don't like losers or people without ambitions and I avoid all shitty airlines in real life too. If Saudia does not have this ambition they should fire the entire team behind Saudia and hire competitive people. We must all strive to improve. Especially as Muslims.

I think Emirates is better than Singapore Airlines.

The GCC sits at center of Afro-Eurasia, with oil gushing in her garden. She has cheap fuel as Jet fuel can be refined and consumed locally without the need of transportation. Aviation is one industry that GCC has a lot of advantage. Jet from here can fly to almost any habitable place on this earth except some places like South America and New Zealand without the need of refueling.
