No superpower is trustworthy - each care about its own interests and would benefit from creating division among others. Classic Divide and Rule principle.
That goes without staying. I'm not so naive as to think superpowers act solely out of moral compunctions, they primarily act out of self-interest. My point is, the policies and activity of the US on the world stage, though motivated by self-interest, happen to coincide with truth and justice, and the Muslim world should favor the US over its rivals Russia and China. The US has a history of favoring Muslims, as it did in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion, Bosnia and Kosovo during the 1990s, its liberation of Kuwait, its liberation of Iraq in 2003, and both its moral and material support to the Chechens in Russia and now the Uighurs in China. On the other hand, the attitude of rival superpowers Russia and China is one of venomous hostility to Islam and Muslims.
So I would like to draw a parallel between America as a modern-day Cyrus the Great and his Persian empire which overcame its evil rival, the neo-Babylonian empire in the 6th century BCE. And there is another parallel which you might appreciate, America as the Eastern Roman empire which clashed with the evil Persian empire in the early 7th century CE. Even the Quran bears witness to the fact that the Believers preferred one empire over the other, and celebrated the Roman victory over Persia, although both superpowers of the time were motivated purely by self-interest.
The truth is, my friend, we Muslims will always be caught in the middle between rival superpowers. It is my understanding based on history and the holy Quran that we can side with one against the other, obviously we side with that superpower which is overall more favorable and beneficial to our own interests and values. Today, that means we tilt toward the great United States.
