Wrong, the US already conducted successful hypersonic flight tests with the US Army AHW, and Air Force X-51.

The US Air Force is now ready to award an air launched hypersonic weapon contract to 1 of 5 companies later this year for rapid fielding. This means US hypersonic weapons efforts are moving into a program of record for actual deployment. Its just a matter of time now.
