An interesting video regarding Bayraktar Akinji (raider) UAVs!!! Vital points are given below:
  • Akinji is planned for 24/7 ops in a fleet formation at the very limit of stratosphere or inside mesosphere regime, which is beyond human pilots' tolerance level
  • Special engines, radars etc. are being developed to this end
  • At this altitude it'll be beyond all the known radar ranges
  • With A2A and A2G capabilities, with different missiles of different ranges, incoming ballistic missiles can also be engaged 100s of kms off the border
  • Not to mention an excellent reconnaissance and early warning coverage. And, it can send the kamikaze drones to the targets unknown to them
  • Akinji is AI/Deep-ML based fully autonomous UAV with sat com capability

Sorry but I'm not sure about the reliability of some of these claims brother.

Beyond the range of all known radars? In the mesosphere? That's extremely dubious. There are radars that can track small, fast-moving satellites in space and even asteroids in "deep space". This is not a stealth UAV. There's no way this drone will be beyond the tracking capability of medium and high altitude air defense radars, let alone such advanced space radars.

Earth's mesosphere starts at 160,000 feet. There's so little air there that it's practically space. Current highest-flying record for an air breathing airplane belongs to the SR-71, which flew at 90,000 feet using two giant turbojet engines generating tens of thousands of pounds of thrust to attain speeds over Mach 3. It's simply against the laws of physics for the Akinci to fly anywhere close to that altitude with turboprop engines. let alone almost twice that height.

Let's not belittle our achievements in UAV design and operation by needlessly (and so obviously) exaggerating their capabilities.

Hence, a special engine...

. . .
Even if it is deep at the stratosphere (60k+ feet) a fleet of 10s of Akinjis is still is a formidable deterrence and attack capability...
No doubt. Akinci is a truly wonderful UCAV with some very advanced capabilities like A2A warfare. But trust me when I say this, there's NO WAY it can fly almost twice as high as the SR-71. This motherfucker is the world's record holder. Its pilots wear full pressure suits like astronauts. I'm not saying this to belittle Akinci. It's great for a UAV. In fact, top class! But to claim that Akinci, a propeller airplane, will fly in the mesosphere after some "magic motor upgrade" is ridiculous. Anyone with even the most basic understanding of aviation can immediately tell you that it's simply impossible. Even the SR-71 can't reach anywhere close to the mesosphere.
