Second Artillery today has unveiled another member of what is a new generation multi-purpose missile triad:

It's interesting to note that this 12x12 TEL has been photographed as early as FOUR years before, in 2009:

If you look carefully, the tyre's position is the same. (Maybe the rear part of the laucher has been now modified)

However it's not known yet who is who, but the members of this triad should be named DF-25, DF-26 and DF-27. All of them will enter service before 2015!

Everybody should still remember that the first one of the members has been unveiled about a year ago:

These missile's sizes suggest that they are in the IRBM class.

Now let's wait for the last member (maybe in february 2014? ;-) )

There are too many kids who don't know what they are talking about...

New TEL. What missile is it?

Nobody knows the missile's specifications! We can only make some guess...the size is similar to the DF-21C, both in diameter and length (although I think it should be a little longer since the warhead is totally above the driving cabin). The TEL should be made by Taian (the same factory of the DF-15B/C TEL), and the "brand" on the engine radiator is of CASIC.
Since the camouflage painting is different from that of the first pic, we can assume that there are more than just one of these babies.

This pic above was taken in Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. It shows a big 3 or 4 stage missile (almost 20 m), with the last stage (warhead section) still enclosed in the canister. This particular kind of canister is unique, never seen before (it's similar to DF-16 canister but more advanced), however the conic shape immediately recalled to my mind this mysterious TEL that appeared for the first time two years ago (February 2012):

We can see that the shape of the cone is the same, and the overall size also matches. What really interesting is the warhead section of the canister: we can see there are two hydraulic pistons, suggesting that the warhead section can open (without opening all the rest), and this feature allows to install different kinds of warhead!

In fact we know this new missile is MULTI-FUNCTIONAL , i.e. depending on what it's put on, it can be used as:

1) nuclear IRBM (put a nuclear warhead, single or MIRVs)
2) extended range AShBM (put the DF-21D MARV warhead)
3) anti-satellite (put a ASAT Kinetic Kill Vehicle)
4) mid-course missile interceptor (put a ABM KKV)
5) hypersonic glide vehicle (put a HGV)
6) fast response satellite rocket (put a satellite, but not too heavy)
7) nuclear SICBM by adding another stage (or put a very light warhead)

(In the first pic maybe it has been used as a fast response rocket "KuaiZhou", launched on 25 September 2013)

All these possibilities show how versatile this missile is! There's a huge costs saving without the need to develop new missiles for each duty.

China's DF-25 medium-range ballistic missile revealed

DF25-173544_copy1.jpg

Based on the DF-21 medium-range ballistic missile, China has recently developed a more advanced DF-25 medium-range ballistic missile. The advanement follows India's completion of its Agni-V intercontinental ballistic missile, capabile of carrying nuclear warheads, reports the Qingdao News website.

The range of the DF-25 is estimated to be 3,200 kilometers. Even though it is still unable to compete against the Agni-V — with a range of 5,000km — the DF-25 is still capable of striking all major targets within the Asia-Pacific, including US military facilities at Guam, said the report. The DF-25 is also the first medium-range missile which can carry multiple conventional warheads.

The DF-25 can carry up to three warheads to strike multiple targets in a region. Combined with the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, the DF-25 can be mobilized to conduct precision attacks against US carrier strike groups as well. This will become another deadly threat to the US naval force operating in the Western Pacific, along with the DF-21D, according to the report. In addition, the the DF-25 is very difficult to intercept.

In this article, the Qingdao News website said that the speed of the DF-25's warhead is estimated at 7,000km/second, surpassing any ability of American surface-to-air missiles based in the Asia-Pacific region to intercept it. Once this weapon is mobilized against the United States, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, there will be no other weapon with the ability to stop it from reaching its target. In short, it renders the US Theater Missile Defense system in the region completely useless.

WCT is a big fail again!
It was a stupid and totally unnecessary comparison with the agni 5 with so many parameters of DF25 unknown to the author of the article!
DF-25 is not intended to be built in the same bracket as agni 5
We have other missiles far superior to agni 5

China Fields New Intermediate-Range Nuclear Missile | Washington Free Beacon

Looks like one member of the new missile triad is beeing deployed, just as it's been predicted (i.e. within 2015).:coffee:

What surprises me is the name of this new entry: DF-26C....."C"?!?! wooow, I mean, it's already the C version!!

We know every DF missile started with the basic version, then the improved A version, B version etc...

This means China is not making steps, but making jumps!!! :azn:

I thought the code letter “C" was reserved for a later iteration of the missile that will use technologies derived from HGV experiments。:D
