The tragedy of PIA

I literally have the same feeling. If a train can be burned, Karachi can be closed and burned, Baldiya factory can be burned for bhatta then this can also happen at hands of politically motivated idiotic ground crew.
I wouldn't be surprised if the unions sought to sabotage the fleet to get CEO Arshad Malik removed after he was reinstated. PIA is littered with PPP loyalists and they would go to any length to destroy the country.

.
Although I voted for PTI, lets call it what it is. Nobody expected IK to clear all this filth in 5 years let alone 2 years. We need a change of system and for that the ground has to settle. Now with the world battling a pandemic all progress has been slowed down on reforms.

Hi,

You are incorrect---. Everybody expected IK to do something---because that is what he had promised---.

But he has not done anything regarding rule of law and law and order situation and going after criminals---.

If some critical steps had been taken during the first 60-90 days---things would be looking good by now---.

While I agree that bold steps taken could've changed our trajectory, I still maintain that the current system cannot deliver anything for this country. This is like expecting a woman who has her uterus removed to give birth to children (sorry for the extreme analogy).

Hi,

IK had an agenda---he had a promise---he made a promise---but one thing he did not have are BALLZ---.

He is a very Kind and Kindered spirit---he needs to become ruthless and vicious against the criminals and judges to build the nation up---.

posters of PPP
To be fair PPP, PML-N, MQM all have stuffed their people into PIA. That is why no government can sort PIA out. Even PTI depends on coalition and electables so is hostage to same mafia.

I agree. All it can do is tweak it. For any substantive change a presidential system is needed.

Maybe he's not the warrior who he set out to be or more so; who "we" wanted him to be. He'd have to be more like a dictator to sort these things out, but alas everything has to be done within the confines of the law; however shrewd or compromised those laws be.

He has the balls. Balls of titanium. His 22 year political history is proof of that. From zero to hero. However PMIK can only operate within the confines of the system. Given the limits post 18th and a weak mandate that stands on a coalition it is a wonder he is still standing.

But my feeling is PMIK is slowly building roots and pulling the weeds planted by the established parties over the last 30 years. A no mean task given the entire administrative, political and economic landscape of the country has been shaped by the those traditional power groups who are not about to shy away easy.

I believe that was the reason he extended Bajwa's tenure. He kneww he can only face the established corrupt order with the military behind him. And it is working. All thinking Pakistanbi's should pray these two men succeed.

.
The numbers don't lie. Time to revamp PIA from top to bottom. PTI has gone in slumber mode. PML-N, PPP, BLA and PTM are holding PTI hostage. All we hear are excuses. Imran Khan needs to wake up fast and make some swift changes. The velvet glove needs to come off.

.
There are two ways forward. Either revolution or evolution.Pakistan is too divided, conflicted, split into dozen political interests for it to be fertile to revolution. PMIK would need a very heavy mandate to be able to do that. If K-Pk was a separate country he could easily go for revolution. But Pakistan is a very complicated amalgam of political forces where even military dicators have to temper their rule by making alliances with political parties.

Given this reality we are only left with evolution. Which takes time. Two terms under PMIK should leave the country ready to move forward for major change. All PMIK will be able to do is lay the spade work or the foundation for change.

The electables are the real issue here. His government has weak legs no doubt about it. Ground has to be paved for presidential system and I think by the end of the 5th year we would have our wish, fingers crossed. I for one would love a voting system where uneducated folks (below matric) are represented as a third of a vote. It would give incentive for people to get educated at least.

I hope so my friend. Read my previous post. I believe PMIK is frustrated but is now working to make the required changes which will take time. Pray we get two terms of PMIK.

When CEO Arshad Malik tried to get rid of extra staff, the Union filed a case on supreme court and the judges due to their epic grudge against armed forces, stopped him from doing his job.
PIA is unfixable and should be either sold or shut down.

Hi,

That is where a strong leadership enters---. Tell the supreme court to shove it and---.

It is a govt decision---do not interfere---.

To do extraordinary things---you have to take extraordinary steps.

PIA been abused by its own employees and siyasi bhartian...it's better govt ban all unions and privatized all airports. Change plane leasing policy. We also tested Premier airline concept and end up losing billions of rupees, was wish of Nawaz daughter Mariam Nawaz. Abu ji ka lia shahi sawari for London.

as per the reports coming on media about the crash if they are true then it will be the unique air crash ever happened in the world. belly landing without declaring emergency. aren't there any alarms in the air craft to alert the pilot that he is losing altitude without landing gears deployed?
