Asad Umar: Elections, Economy, Taxes, PIA and The Future Of PTI

Corruption could have never taken us to the point where we are now. It is our straight -up bad policies designed specifically to favour the elites . I mean I can’t agree more with the fact that we have given considerable subsidies on fuel but not on public transport . In the end , if someone is to blame the elites who are in control of Pakistan for 75 years and knew that the economy is deteriorating but selfishly choose to fund their luxuries.

I don't think in an economy of Pakistan's size--and it is a considerable sized economy despite the large population-- where the 'elites' luxuries or the 'corruption' would bring Pakistan to this point. Pakistan is suffering now from the political instability since April 2022. Period!! Otherwise, the 'luxuries' and 'corruption' or the 'NRO' blah blah that Imran Khan repeated with a singular focus was not unique to Pakistan. Most countries of the world, outside of established Western democracies, have such issues and in significant amounts. Pakistan did well through most of its history despite the same political class and the 'establishment' which Imran Khan and his fanbois focus on. Pakistan was ahead of India in many ways even during ZAB's so-called 'socialist' government.

It is not rocket science to know what's going on! The political instability which greatly affected Pakistan between 1988-1999 is back again and this time with the added huge factor of the rising terrorism. There was huge terrorism between 2007-2015 which cost Pakistan dearly BUT there was much more political stability then and so Pakistan was not on its knees as it is now.

Imran Khan is almost certain to be back to power. No 'establishment' or any force can deny him that given the ground support he has. Even if he is personally disqualified his party is very likely to regain power in next 4-12 months when the elections happen. So what the hell is this drama about? It is because of his DeRh Hushyaar politics of rushing to power even if that means the country is being destroyed.

Regretably I have a poor opinion about Mr Asad Omer's competency on economic matters.

Asad Umar is a good man to be in charge of Planning Commission.

I still have doubts regarding Shaukat Tareen. Hafeez Sheikh was doing a better job earlier.
