Sunday, the second phase of the "Gulf Shield 1" exercise, was launched by conducting field exercises with live ammunition lasting 5 days with the participation of ground forces, air and sea forces, air defense and special forces from 23 countries.
The first phase of the exercise ended last Thursday with the implementation of tasks related to the leadership of the participating forces from all military sectors for a period of 3 days using the modern technology of fighting simulators to simulate combat simulations for virtual reality.
During the first phase of the exercise, the leaders dealt with all the procedures of military operations management, in a regular and irregular operating environment, where the means of command, control and communication are tested at all strategic, operational and tactical levels.

"The field maneuvers in their second phase aim to raise the competencies of the participating forces to meet the challenges and threats within a joint operational environment, to achieve the concept of joint action", said Brigadier General Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Subaie.
He stressed that this stage involved the participation of high level of training and professionalism military forces using many modern and sophisticated weapons.
The Saudi Arabian News Agency reported that the Gulf Shield 1, organized by the Saudi Ministry of Defense and involving 23 countries, had carried out last week one of the largest plans of military action to mobilize forces in the world, which started from the moment of arrival of the first troops of participating forces in the exercise on the territory of Saudi Arabia through the "land - air - sea" ports and the completion of their concentration in the areas of the assembly.
It added that the giant military aircrafts were used by the participating countries in the transfer of officers and soldiers, equipment and the specific gear to be used in the exercise.

Tens of thousands of soldiers have arrived in the Kingdom to join the military exercise, the largest of its kind, in terms of the number of participating countries and the quality of equipment used in it, classified as one of the largest mobilization of hybrid forces such as Operation Desert Storm, and the Saudi military exercise "Thunder north", Which was conducted in Hafr al-Batin, Saudi Arabia, in March 2016.
