The Spy Chronicles - Book Review by Dr Naeem Mushtaq

What makes you think that?
Both are different agencies with different tasking.

Sir,that part is enough to make me run away from here, kulbushan was caught due to work of OI not CI.
B wing was responsible now count it as OI or CI

.
Problem with this forum is that there r a lot of dual nationals like him in here with split loyalties, vested interests with Christianize/secular lifestyles and even r part of administration of this forum....

So what you are insinuating is that dual citizen on this forum are working for foreign intel? That if somehow someone has 'secular' lifestyle he's anti- Pakistan?

Its the Pakistan citizen only that elect idiots like Nawaz Sharif and then defend him and his corruption here. Its an idiot like Asad Durrani, who in effort to self promote, damage Pakistan's core national interests.

Dual nationals, like here, help Pakistan as being its ambassadors. They send their saving to Pakistan helping Pakistan's balance of payments part of the economy. Leaders you choose in Pakistan suck your blood, bleed the country white. They run the country on heavy interests loans, making the country poor and compromised and the same time plunder the country to build empires and properties in foreign countries.

This is just a forum. Not some government agency where dual citizen cant work. Incidentally, your country's key ministries and government's agencies were headed by dual citizen who had dubious reputation, appointed by leaders on whom many single nationality Pakistanis will sacrifice theire lives for defending them!

Get your priorities right buddy!

.
Yes u are right we need to separate internal and external wings into diff agencies like BND and MI5 , MI6
it wont really work that way either, we will still continue to end up looking like an idiot. In my opinion keep ISI as it is....just make a real/proper broader intel agency externally with civ/mil mixture with bigger greater manifesto, who must not be named nor exists in official papers nor in unofficial papers, the one who can be only felt in the assessments of external/internal analysts or in their haunches.....The one who really do operates n exists like Ghosts both figuratively n literally. The one who is under no one nor is answerable to anyone be it government or institution or who ever heads them both....This will not limit her as to what she can or cant do, she wont be bound by any ''discipline''......i want u guys to make it and let it go lose forever. I know its risky but so be it. The one who doesnt have any head either.....All they should have is a sort of committee from within the experienced and most smart individuals without any discrimination of being civ/mil......And that committee as a whole should pass the judgement and take decisions for future course of the intel agency or of the country itself (Something like a secret society). And who ever comes or becomes a road block infront of them either an individual or institution in both civilian/military sphere must be made a horrible example for everyone be it politicians, parties, media personnel, international diplomats, or international governments....They should not be afraid to conduct operations in any country in the world be it China, America or whoever comes in b/w them in terms of friendly countries or unfriendly countries. They should be afraid of any law no matter domestic or international.

Do separate reforms for ISI keep it if u want to or disband it and merge relevant departments into the new agency or relegate them into the smaller or civilian agencies depending upon needs and for capacity building.

ISI's separation for both internal or external agencies wont work....this military centric nature of it will always hurt her and street smartness wont develop nor leadership qualities among its cadre.....It can only be done if its free from any military/disciplinary/professional/code of conduct grip. They would again end up looking like an idiot. They r just not smart enough accept that, they live a very isolated life first in cadet/military colleges then in Military academies then in cantonments and operational areas. They r simply not the right people to fight this new age of warfighting concepts ie 4/5 gen warfare.

Iman, Yakeen e Kamil and Fikri Wahdat r the actual things here, they r the real ingredients.
Baky Rahy naam Allah ka. Allah Allah khair sy Allah.

Again poor assessment driven by Pak-Cheen dosti clout...not only China has delivered North Korea on a platter to USA but China also agreed to open up its economy and increase trade with USA..which means the money inflow into USA is now even more..thanks to China!
u need to start living in Pakistan thats just my advice for u.

they are not enough Muslaman and enough Pakistani to be entrusted with...take an example of canadian pakistanis....the most self hating pakistanis i have ever seen. They hate/dislike Pakistan more then those Pakistanis living in Pakistan itself who have to go through all the trouble daily by just choosing to live here.

I think you have wrong perception about the Canadian Pakistani people and don't comapre us with one bad apple like Tariq Fatheh. I talk myself , met last year 11 thousnads new peoples from 126 different countires nations in canada. I act as a ambassador of pakistan and islam and give them my atleast one single message in my conversation about paksitan :
1. Pakistan is the only country in the world that got its independence on the date corresponding with the empowering night of Ramadan 27 of the year 1366 (Islamic calendar) after the Prophet and Hijra. and two state in UN charter came in map in name of Allah.

2. Pakistan is the only country in the world that is a gateway to the Middle East, Central Asia, China, and rest of South Asia.

3. Pakistan is the only Muslim country that is a Nuclear Power.

4. Pakistan is one of the few countries in the world where you'll see all kind of landscapes and weather. From the majestic mountains of NWFP, Northern Areas, and Azad Kashmir to the lush plains of Punjab to the deserts and beaches of Sindh and Balochistan.

7. Pakistan is the only country in this world which was created for Islam.

Barrick has a interest in Tethyan Copper Company (the other 50% is owned by Antofagasta plc), which has a 75% interest in the Reko Diq project and associated mineral interests (for a resulting 37.5% interest in Reko Diq). 13. Pakistan has the World's 5th largest Army:
It was amazing to know that my great country Pakistan has the 5th biggest army of the world, but this doesn't means that the biggest is also the strongest as well, because the strongest would be the one which would have the latest technology weapons.

20. Pakistan is the place where I come from, is the place my parents, my grandparents all come from. Where ever I am in the world I will always remember my roots and be proud of the fact that I come from Pakistan and I am Pakistani.

Hi I agreed with you about platter thing to some extent hence in terms of Chinese North Korea is guarded by China / Russia and at the moment China is enough to deal with Americans in that area with the help of Russians to some extent so basically they didn’t abondoned NK infact keep
Americans out of that area and offcourse with this they gain more from USA in terms of trade
You can agreed to disagreed with me on this but China & Russia they don’t want USA next to them at the moment as they know very well NK can’t contain USA for long time
Thank you

.
this is what i was talking about.....about military officers and their lack of street smartness and awareness. There is a very good video made by Asher Azeem, the director/producer of Maalik, talking about that.

The eventual classic coup goes to RAW!!! A spy even a retired one will remain a spy for the rest of his life. Gen Durrani forgot the oldest adage of intelligence agencies here.

Got carried away in Track 2 diplomacy. Gen Durrani got sucked in ---- classic sucker!!! He was overzealous to go pro Nawaz Shariff and anti establishment.

They must be laughing their heads off in N. Delhi.
seen him in BBC hard talk
the host was impressed by him

and Al Jazera program done by a biased Indian host and very hostile crowd made up of Afghans and Indians and he presented himself very well and dignified. he talks as a matter of fact and has command over the delivery and confidence as well

In this case I dont know what he agreed to and what is published.
he didnt co author this book. his meetings with Indians is compiled in a form of a book
it is clear (from what is public knowledge) that he didnt get the clearance from GHQ for the material which si a serious oversight specially when it comes to Indians they dont even spare our actors and trim their dialogues in the movies to make them look bad ( referring to a bad experience of late Muhammad Ali ) this guy was the former chief of their main antagonist agency how could they let that chance pass

I watched the interview of Aatazaaz Ahsan as well and he disagrees that General has done anything wrong or divulged national secrets. Indians made some points at our expense but their chief also admitted to the failed policy of using force in Kashmir (for the sake of saying at leas)

Totally concur Sir, I am partly through the book and so far I have read nothing that should jeopardize national security in fact both the Durrani and Dulat are trying to bait each other into revealing sensitive info and neither has taken the bait so far as I have read.Kudos

hi,

It was not created for " ISLAM " per say---it was created where muslims would have freedom to practice their religion.

Hi,

The events for the creation of Pakistan had occurred long before Pakistan came into being---.

The basic fundamental idea was for a place where muslims of the sub continent be free of persecution and have opportunity to have a better life and prosper---.

The idea for " islam " as a banner was not the primary goal---the primary goal as I stated was a place for the miserable subjugated masses who called themselves muslims to have an equal opportunity to get at the good things in life---like freedom---education---employment---to be masters of own destiny.

But if you want to believe in what you do---it is upto you---.

I have met the gentleman in question. Intellectual level, no doubt high and he is articulate and his demeanor is unlike that of a typical general. But being a spy master he should have been careful. What he said or did not say, his engagement with the Indians in the end became an embarrassment to say the least for GoP. One expected more from a person of his caliber and position.

As far as his eagerness to come into the limelight... I stick to my claim
