Mohammad Fayaz has become the talk of town for building a small aircraft at his house in Pakpattan.
The flight didn’t go as he planned because he was stopped by the police. He used the metal link road as a runway to take off on his maiden flight and took several rounds in the air before being arrested.
“I have wanted to become a pilot since I was a child,” he told SAMAA TV. “I wanted to be recruited in the Pakistan Air Force.”
One of his teachers, Yaqoob sahab, a retired subedar, used to tell him stories of what happens during the Army recruitment process and that used to fascinate him a lot.

His father was a supervisor at Ittefaq Sugar Mills. “Whenever I got the time, I used to sit with my father and ask him how machines worked.
“My dad would always tell me that I am very smart and that I will definitely become a pilot,” he shared.
Life, however, had a different plan for Fayaz. When he was in class nine, his father became unwell. “I had to leave my studies and start earning for the family.” He even had to sell his four Kanal land. His father passed away and he had to take up the responsibility of earning for his family.
“I took on the role but I never let my passion die,” he said.
He started selling popcorn in the morning and then worked as a security guard at the University of Lahore at night. “I earned Rs15,000 working as a security guard and saved that money to build my aircraft.”
He had already saved Rs50,000 from before.
Fayaz soon started working on the aircraft. “I would save my two months salaries and then buy the engine or some other part of the plane.” It took me a year to build it, he said. It cost him Rs90,000.
The plane works on petrol, he explained.
The plane has the engine of a road cutter which Fayaz bought for Rs33,000. It runs on petrol and the capacity of its fuel tank is 10 litres. The plane can fly for continuous two to three hours, he said. “This is more than enough to take it to Lahore or Faisalabad.”
Fayaz has requested Prime Minister Imran Khan and Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa to take notice of police capturing his plane. “I want the chance to improve on my design.”
‘Police made me feel like a terrorist’
On his arrest, he said that he was just flying his plane but the police hit him. “They beat me up and then arrested me.”
He remarked that he felt like a terrorist or a wanted criminal. “I kept thinking that I shouldn’t have done this.”
I just want to work for the betterment of the country, he added.

Makes me feel ashamed of my country's administration.

Talent is thrown to trash. And corruption is held from every danger of extinction.

My bad wishes for all who tortured him mentally or physically

Openly saying.
The officers who arrested him or fined him, must drown themselves in a cup of water

That's what enemy wants from us.

. .
This guy deserves Nishan-e-Pakistan.

reminds me of a poor 12 year old in my state who actually made a gun for real...he was thrown in jail by the local inspector long time ago...many such talents are not nurtured properly in both countries...but i heard from my dad some decades ago this kid was doing so much drugs in college and got into a fight with a professor and called him not worthy of him teaching him as he is way more intelligent than any of them...so the professor got angry and challenged him to prove his metal...all the professors got to gether and drilled him in front of the whole college...he was only doing the second year in the course and when they asked him fourth year stuff he answered without even blinking the eye...the professors were amazed and some men in plain clothes came later and took him with them ...he was never seen again in that college and no one knows what happened to him.

This is standard in every country, not just Pakistan. Someone randomly building a "plane" and then trying to fly it, is not an putting himself at danger but others as well. If he is really talented, then maybe some institution can let him further explore his talent under a more safe and controlled environment.

Magistrate advice him to take advice from CAA engineer before flying. otherwise

If this is a real story , then Pakistani Administration is messed up

No this is not standard in any country , countries allow you to build your stuff and test it in remote areas noone gives a shit about remote area testing they only care if you device is near aviation hubs

This is example of a local Innovator , trying to invent something new , and Patent it hopefully and Pakistani Administration is denying him a chance of doing it

That is a the difference in western world such Innovators are Championed and given $$$$ in Western Society to go invent something new

Worse they can do is , give him help to attend Adult Education , so he can complete his Education and may be get a Pilot licence

A car Engine , may not be ideal option but it will still work for a 1 man glider
The only difference between Car Engine and Jet Engine is speed / reliability and actual mechanics

Same mechanics which move a tire can be switched to force a propeller to rotate

However , the person should have chance to demonstrate his invention

No hard to allow the man to demonstrate his invention , show it can fly , and his proof of concept who know may be it will work

No, this not a standard in every country. Science always progresses this way.. BTW he was trying to fly in an open field/farm and he did not damage anyone..not even to the property and himself. All the govt needed was to send him to a proper academy, here he can learn about aircraft design and safety. But putting in the jail and fining him is really disgusting and a slave mentality on the part of the govt.

Leaving the whole concept of encouragement on one side, why is it disgusting to fine or jail him? There is a reason why civil aviation authorities exist in each country and why you can be jailed for same thing in any other country.

He could have killed someone on the ground as it was untested machine and he was testing in on a public road in public, he could have easily decapitated someone or killed someone had it gone wrong. Not to mention air space is restricted and he could have put civilian and military planes in serious danger.

It seems us Pakistanis are always looking of excuse for those who break the law, whether it be MNS ="oh he is our 3 time pm" but ignore the fact that he and his family has f..ked our whole country or in case of BBZ = "oh his poor mum was killed and we are been very bad to him" or in his case "oh we are destroying talent etc".

How about we start teaching people to obey the law first and foremost and than carry on. He could have easily contacted CAA and sought their permission as well as from local police (oh they are corrupt is not an excuse) and if after trying through proper channel he was not able to get consent only then one can say he might be justified but in absence of any attempt to do it through genuine means I find no sympathy for him.

as for "BTW he was trying to fly in an open field/farm and he did not damage anyone..not even to the property and himself.

So should be allow people to break the law as long as no one is harmed. Should we allow people to openly use guns in public as an example as long as no is harmed or killed?

Yes lets stop innovation and discovery just because it threatens the jahil public around the place?

This is not a norm ffs, this is the system which promotes barbarianism and thugs but stop the talent from doing something...

As if your dumb *** public dont use guns in the public?

Stop being a discouragement to those who actually got the brains to do something. Don;t pour out your ego and jealousy in a loooong post just because some one else had what it takes to make something, unlike you...

:yahoo::yahoo:
Happy.

I might be a dumb arse but at least I know the difference between right and wrong. So why have law at all than if one can break.

Beside who the f..k is stopping this f...ker from his invention? just because he made something does not allow him to break the law. How hard would it have been for him to test it under proper conditions and proper permits?
