I would like to dedicate this thread to the one and only Laloo Prasad Yadav. There can be no one like him. Please contribute constructively.

Oh btw, I am a big fan of that politician. Wearing the dismal tag of being one of the most corrupt politicians in India, Laloo is credited with the turnabout of Indian Railways from a PSU white elephant to a profit making entity!! Give the man his due and to him I dedicate this thread.

Among other things, what I really appreciate about the man is his rustic straightforwardness. And he singlehandedly turned around a loss making PSU (public sector unit) into one hell of a profitable venture!! That has helped the infrastructure of India immensely!!

From what I heard from my friends who work for railways, Laloo brought in retired people to ask them about the ills facing the Railways, with the knowledge that retired people will have no fears about their job security. That IMHO was a master stroke to address root causes.

First of all, I'm not from Bihar but Assam.

Me think this guy is a little overhyped .. In the famous story of Indian Railway's turn about, he's only credit is saying yes to all the intelligent plans the IAS officers laid in front of him, which was unfortunately not done by the previous Railway Ministers.

If he is such a capable leader, what did he achieve in his 18+ years of Ruling Bihar. He took Bihar from bad to worse, be it economy, law and order or development. He was only successful in Diverting most of the central funds to his and his relative's benefit.

What he could not do in more then 18 years, Nitish Kumar is doing in less then 5 years.

IMHO, he is nothing more then a street smart politician, who could take enough risk to say yes to the numorous improvement schemes our IAS officers keep on putting forward (only to be stomped down by the clown politicians who cannot afford to think out of the box).

Down with clowns like Laloos and Mayawatis!!!

THANK You for saying that. I was about to post the very same thoughts. The plans and the implementation was all of the IAS officers in IR. We had a SPO, Special officer from the IR as one of our guests in our B school in Delhi and he pretty much alluded to the fact that Laloo's only credit in the IR turnaround story is saying YES.

Totally agree with you. I think his humorous side is just a diversion from his incapability as a leader. Look what he did to Bihar. For a man who ruled Bihar for close to two decades, he could have changed a lot in the state.

And to all of us clamoring to be fans of this guy- Its ok for village rustics and country folks to be fans of his, but we as educated folks don't have that luxury.

I based it on Lalu ka haath main alu hehehe and i got maximum marks in that paper. So NO criticism against him

If only he could have used his comic creativity and sense of timing to devise solutions to Bihar's problems and timely implement them!

the problem is not with just him. almost all the politicians of his generations are corrupt to the deepest core..just look at the likes of MAYAWATI, MULAYAM SIMGH, RAMVILAS PASWAN, DEVEGOWDA, SIBU SOREN and god knows how many more...it is this crop of politicians who are responsible for half the problems being faced by us..
