As I have said previously, Pakistan is not an "Islamic state", nor was it intended to be as such. It was a safe haven for Muslims, and it shall continue as such. This definition does not exclude anyone who is not Muslim from citizenship.

I am totally for Muslim brotherhood and I am a proud Muslim having sympathies for every supressed and poor Muslim in this world.

BUT:
The Ummah-concept is not a big socialism. It's not Pakistan fighting for Arab (!) interests and it's also not Arabs paying the debt for Somalia. There are specific circles of responsibility and if you check the Islamic Zakat-Guidelines you will notice that you have to do charitable acts first and foremost in your own family, then your neighborhood, then your quarter, then your city/village... and so on and so forth.

Pakistan cannot take in millions of Muslim refugees from outside the world - I whis that we could help them all, but the ground realities are different - and totally forget its own citizens. I love this attitude though, Pakistanis even being not an economic power will have sympathies towards every Muslim nation and unfortunately will forget their own nation for this :-(.

My personal stance:
be a good Muslim by being a good member of your OWN society. It cranks me up when I see a former classmate of mine from Turkey living off the dole his kids wear old clothes and he has to beg money from social security for school trips for his children, but yes he cries rivers for Palestine or Mali. Man, where is your responsibility for your OWN FAMILY? Maybe he should start working his ... off to provide for his family and not thinking about a conflict he cannot control!

Think global but for the love of God act local! A strong Pakistan can help the Muslims all over the world but being a poor country ourself nobody will fear us and our influence will be limited to lip service :-(.
