Yeah that's why I said predominantly. Also India signed a defence pact with Russia just after the war.
Zionism is like the salt in such threads!
Who is this Zia Uddin? Any one has picture of this guy? I think I have seen him on TV but not sure.
Pakistani hardwares were of US made while IA used predominantly Russian weapons, they were of no use to IA except to show off. But then again it's BD sub forum so let's just go with the flow! Evil Bharti Hindu baniya stole paddy, hilsa even kitchen utensils!! Down with the zionists!
indian supported , trained , funded militants against pakistan became freedom fighter? most of them were actually indians disguised as freedom fighters. your same freedom fighters killed many innocent pakistanis. lanat on such freedom fighters.
You and I should get together sometime, sit down and exchange our stash. Yours is obviously of better quality than mine.It looted at least a thousand million dollars worth of military hardwares and factory machineries, so that we can never again rise our heads above water and we remain the basket case for ever. India was trying to disarm us to keep us weak and Sk. Mujib, though not responsible for those acts himself, was killed afterwards as a collateral.
After the war the Mukti Bahinis were indeed disarmed to ensure that further political violence didn't spread. Mukti Bahinis were not the official armed force of Bangladesh. They were still armed civilians. They needed to be disarmed. The Pakistani POWs were also taken in custody and given protection against the Mukti Bahinis who would have otherwise skinned the Pakistanis alive. After the surrender of Pakistanis on December 16, 1971, Indians were
taking away all the Pakistani arms and military equipment, most of
them very sophisticated and acquired from the US and China. It
appeared odd to a smalltime freedom fighter, a captain, somewhere in
Sylhet.
Stop trolling. The issue is post independence frustrations, You don't have any clue about it. The likes of you didn't fight for independence to watch that only the label has changed.
@Indian posters, why you guys are beating about the bush? Why do you intentionally derail the topic and say IA did not intend to use these arms, anyway. But, did the article above or any of us say anything in that line? It is a different issue.
Indian intention was to disarm Bangladesh so that the country rtemains weak and could not wage any war against any of its neighbours. And, in the meanwhile, it could dominate over us through their puppets in Dhaka.

That is the reason that we disarmed you. Given the chance your mentality would be to go with war with some one. Disarming you is to prevent chaos, the reason you have better government than Pakistan in resent times is our decesion to disarm you when the war was over.

That was standard procedure and praised by no less than International Commission of Jurists.
The process of disarming the Mukti Bahini was started by IA. Here is one Time's report:Indian army was not involved in disarming muktis. Mukti disarmed voluntarily to the BD army well after Indian army left.
Abir, the Indian Army also used Centurions and Vickers Mk. 1.
What does Zionism have to do with this??
You may be right about initiating disarming the Muktis by IA troops, but it took many months to disarm them. There were sporadic fightings between police/miltary and FFs. Nights were hell with continuous or time to time bullet fires. Every one became a strong man in Bangladesh. The process of disarming the Mukti Bahini was started by IA. Here is one Time's report:
